I just spotted a few Toucan issues have cropped up, they all seem quite minor though, which is good. 15:24:38 It allows the installer generator to properly create the icon header for the app's installer even in Wine. And it allows the icons to display properly in the Menu even on Vista/Win7 with large icons (without cutting off icons) and in Wine without icons showing up in 16 color mode. 15:25:05 Ahhh ok :) 15:25:54 howdy SteveLamerton 15:27:15 Hi ZachThibeau 15:27:27 how's toucan coming along? 15:27:57 There seem to be a few minor issues with the new release, nothing major yet, I was just about to start work fixing them :) 15:28:37 *** ZerFEr (n=zefer@217.194.116.85.dsl.manitu.net) has joined #portableapps 15:30:37 *** excid3 has quit ("Leaving.") 15:35:31 SteveLamerton: maybe you could work on a debug build or even add an option to allow a dump of the process in a text file to make it easier to report bugs :) 15:39:27 ZachThibeau: Yes, I was reading up on wxDebugReport the other day, I didnt even realise they had a class that did that sort of thing! 15:40:02 cool :) 15:41:38 Hmmm, does this link : http://sourceforge.net/project/stats/detail.php?group_id=151265&ugn=portableapps&type=prdownload&mode=week&package_id=240220&release_id=0 work for anyone else or is the sourceforge stats server just rubbish? 15:42:18 ERROR 15:42:18 Error fetching statistics data: Connection to statistics server timed out - Please retry shortly 15:42:52 Ahhh, it is them then, wondered if it was my connection, been having a bit of trouble recently :( 15:44:24 Ahh JohnTHaller could I ask you to update the Toucan screenshot at some point, not urgent, someone pointed it out on the forum, thats all :) 15:48:21 *** Havvy (i=a9ccd474@gateway/web/ajax/mibbit.com/x-ce3860a18475a228) has joined #portableapps 15:48:29 *** Havvy has quit (Client Quit) 15:50:49 *** guest989 (n=chatzill@125.60.248.153) has joined #portableapps 15:52:10 *** guest989 has quit (Client Quit) 15:52:19 *** guest989 (n=chatzill@125.60.248.153) has joined #portableapps 15:52:54 *** guest989 has quit (Client Quit) 15:53:12 *** pa_3046 (i=7d3cf899@gateway/web/ajax/mibbit.com/x-e93f6be828331cb8) has joined #portableapps 15:53:36 *** pa_3046 has quit (Client Quit) 16:21:16 *** SteveLamerton has quit ("Leaving.") 16:32:40 *** Whibo has quit () 16:56:08 *** BjornH has quit ("Leaving") 17:05:37 *** sar3th (n=sar3th@unaffiliated/sar3th) has joined #portableapps 17:21:33 *** SteveLamerton (n=Steven@122.50.125.91.rb3.adsl.brightview.com) has joined #portableapps 17:21:34 SteveLamerton is the developer of Toucan and a moderator on PortableApps.com as well as one of its longest serving members, so show some respect ;) 17:21:49 Hello again all :) 17:27:33 *** drag|away has quit ("( www.nnscript.com :: NoNameScript 4.21 :: www.esnation.com )") 17:30:04 howdy SteveLamerton 17:31:27 Hi ZachThibeau 17:40:20 heads up for any devs with java apps... i'm releasing a test installer for java portable this week that won't require a local install 17:45:46 *** BjornH (n=BjornH@90-227-131-75-no21.tbcn.telia.com) has joined #portableapps 17:56:12 *** SteveLamerton has quit ("Leaving.") 18:05:51 *** MaienM|Sleep is now known as MaienM 18:14:01 *** sar3th|linux (n=sar3th@unaffiliated/sar3th) has joined #portableapps 18:14:26 *** sar3th has quit (""Our culture doesn't get smarter, it just finds new ways of being retarded."") 18:14:59 JohnTHaller: AWESOME! : 18:15:00 *:) 18:16:00 *** caralu74 (i=ba5240f5@gateway/web/ajax/mibbit.com/x-2f818ab06c59974e) has joined #portableapps 18:17:11 hello, every body. some one know if there is a version of Toucan for Linux? 18:17:27 not yet 18:17:56 there are plans to port it to linux though 18:18:59 yup 18:19:19 I'm working with Steve Lamerton in the effort of porting it to linux 18:21:26 ohh it sound great. I see that. 21:42:09 Ok, what did you have on there before that was erased? What files and where were they? 21:42:57 It was mainly powerpoint presentations in a folder called presentation in the root. 21:43:39 Did you format your drive before instaling the platform? 21:44:44 No... I had my files on my drive and after having installed the platform, my drive name changed and my files disappeared 21:46:01 The drive name changed just from the autorun.inf file in the root directory. Windows uses it before it uses the name of the drive itself to display in Explorer. You can rename it back within the menu or edit autorun.inf directly to change it back. 21:47:10 ok..thanks, and what about my files? Are they totally deleted ? 21:47:14 The Platform installer doesn't delete any folders, it only creates the ones you see. There is a possibility if your drive had logical errors on it (due to an unsafe eject, shorted USB port, etc) that some files could have been corrupted when new ones from the platform were written. I'd suggest before doing anything else that you check the drive for errors. 21:47:58 You can do that in Explorer by right-clicking the drive and selecting Properties. Then selecting the Tools tab and Check This Drive For Errors. 21:48:41 *** ZachThibeau is now known as ZachT|AFK 21:49:53 Whether or not it finds errors, there may be something wrong or in the process of going wrong on the drive itself. You can try to recoved the files using a tool like PhotoRec. It's command line, but it works well at recovering deleted or damaged files off flash devices: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec 21:51:17 Ok.. thank you for your help... I will try to test this. 21:51:44 Don't save anything new to the drive before going through these steps 21:52:19 Each new thing altered could delete or corrupt something that is already on there. I'd start with backing up everything on the drive to start if it has anything still readable you want. 21:54:19 Thanks a lot for these advices. I really hope I could get thes files back. Bye bye. thanks 21:54:58 I hope so, too.
