00:15:45 <ChrisMorgan> Why not GTK themes though?
00:15:58 <ChrisMorgan> A portability issue or you want more than GTK themes could offer?

00:35:05 <ZachThibeau> no just some gtk themes don't offer some stuff like Tim likes a dark background, I made it so that he can customize it easily if needed to suit his needs :)
00:41:37 <ZachThibeau> like right now it's the chat window that changes but applied with say a gtk theme called aurora dark it looks like this http://i49.tinypic.com/11r3aeo.jpg and with the ms-windows theme for gtk look like this http://i46.tinypic.com/2eoyzro.jpg

00:52:17 <Computator> Gizmokid2005: hey, I found out more about that GoogleChromePortable
00:52:40 <Gizmokid2005> oh?
00:52:44 <Computator> here's the ini part http://pastebin.com/m58d14d16
00:52:52 <Computator> and we were both right
00:53:31 <Computator> you were right in that i can't find anything about the PAP in the nsis source
00:54:04 <Computator> but I know how it works when I actually use it
00:54:22 <Computator> I hadn't looked at the source previously, only the ini
00:55:06 <Computator> and when i have the PAP open and i start chrome from it it copies over the files (i have it set to)
00:55:51 <Computator> that is ChromePortableLauncher...
00:56:06 <Computator> no...
00:56:19 <Computator> GoogleChromePortable*
00:56:36 <Computator> and that starts chrome.exe
00:56:50 <Computator> when i exit chrome (chrome.exe)
00:57:13 <Computator> oops
00:57:32 <Computator> when i exit chrome (chrome.exe), GoogleChromePortable stays open
00:58:37 <Computator> and if I click on chrome in the PAP again it starts another instance of GoogleChromePortable...

00:59:20 *** JohnTHaller1 has parted #portableapps (None)
00:59:25 <Computator> that starts another instance of chrome.exe and then GoogleChromePortable exits (the original one is still running though
00:59:33 <ChrisMorgan> Wow. That was fast :P
00:59:42 <ChrisMorgan> He doesn't linger, does he? ;-)
00:59:45 *** JohnTHaller (~JohnTHall@cpe-67-247-35-38.nyc.res.rr.com) has joined #portableapps
00:59:50 <JohnTHaller> hi all
00:59:53 <Computator> the original GoogleChromePortable*
00:59:53 <ChrisMorgan> Hey JohnTHaller :-)
00:59:54 <Computator> hello
01:00:03 <JohnTHaller> how goes it in here?
01:00:10 <ChrisMorgan> Fine for me
01:00:48 <ChrisMorgan> I'm just thinking now I might do my own work today rather than PAL work... the past couple of weeks I've done almost no work on my own project because of PAL...
01:00:56 <Computator> Gizmokid2005: then when you close the PAP GoogleChromePortable copies the files back and exits
01:01:06 <JohnTHaller> Yeah, fun projects tedn to do that to you
01:01:09 <Computator> i've verified that w/ taskmanager
01:01:16 <ChrisMorgan> And I think PAL is now pretty stable, while there are some features still to add it's almost all there.
01:01:23 <JohnTHaller> I'll be upping chrome 4.0 to official tomorrow
01:01:57 <ChrisMorgan> Now PAL is awaiting your registry improvements (and I've got to fix registry handling in Wine, it's not loading the data at all) and any others you have so it can go to Beta
01:01:58 <Computator> Gizmokid2005: I have to leave (again) but thats how it has worked for me
01:02:28 <Gizmokid2005> Computator: GoogleChromePortable.exe should NOT linger once the app is closed.
01:02:29 <Gizmokid2005> ever
01:02:35 <Gizmokid2005> only long enough to copy the files around as it needs to
01:02:51 <Gizmokid2005> hello JohnTHaller
01:02:59 <Computator> idk, it does, it's prevented me from ejecting my fd until it exits
01:03:05 <JohnTHaller> Ok ChrisMorgan. I'm still not quite at 100% after the week from hell.
01:03:16 <Computator> the ini options implied to me that that is how it worked
01:03:32 <ChrisMorgan> Yep, feel free to take your time with it... that way maybe I'll manage to get away from it myself a bit ;-)
01:03:45 <Computator> Gizmokid2005: but, i know i did the same thing yesterday but i really gtg
01:04:01 <JohnTHaller> I gotta get 1.6.1 up, updated apps, installer fix and the Music Production Suite up by tomorrow evening.
01:04:04 <Computator> so adios for now
01:04:13 <Gizmokid2005> see ya Computator
01:04:23 *** Computator has quit (Quit: be back tomorrow (hopefully))
01:04:45 <JohnTHaller> Worked on the theme for the menu with the OpenSouceHipHop branding... wanna see?
01:05:43 *** dzjepp (~menace2s@adsl-99-31-122-16.dsl.emhril.sbcglobal.net) has joined #portableapps
01:06:48 <ChrisMorgan> JohnTHaller: mind if I do some fixing of the installer too? There are some LogicLib things I'd like to do to it and also switch it all to using LangFile.nsh for language file handling (that way you can make strings default to the English value if they're not defined in the language)
01:07:14 <JohnTHaller> Give it a couple days. I have a 1.0.3 release with several fixes to post still.
01:07:22 <ChrisMorgan> OK
01:07:30 <ChrisMorgan> I'd like to see your theme if it's no trouble :-)
01:07:34 <JohnTHaller> http://portableapps.com/temp/ossh.jpg
01:07:55 <JohnTHaller> The help icon is the OSHH icon temporarily. It'll actually be an additional icon in the menu when released.
01:08:19 <ChrisMorgan> I like it.
01:08:34 <ZachThibeau> howdy JohnTHaller :D
01:08:34 <JohnTHaller> Yeah, our main designer did it just last evening. He does good stuff.
01:08:55 <JohnTHaller> he did the flyer for the event, too: http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=318872776408&ref=mf
01:09:01 <JohnTHaller> hi Zach
01:09:03 <ChrisMorgan> It keeps the feel of the normal skin but with different colours and that splotch feel too which is good
01:09:19 <JohnTHaller> It's one of the options we're gonna give OEMs
01:09:34 <ChrisMorgan> Hmm, requires logging in... I won't see the flyer then as I don't use Facebook :-)
01:09:46 <JohnTHaller> oh hang on
01:10:01 <JohnTHaller> http://www.barsputnik.com/events.php scroll down to 2/19
01:11:53 <ZachThibeau> I'm finally getting my drivers license tomorrow
01:12:26 <JohnTHaller> We're still waiting on permission for one freeware app. Pinging them again now. Will post the new suite tomorrow, launch party tomorrow night and press release about it tues once some photos are up.
01:12:46 <ChrisMorgan> Yesterday I spent most of the day reinstalling a clean copy of XP on one of our machines... originally installed as Me, upgraded to XP SP1, then SP2, then almost all its hardware was upgraded from an Athlon 800MHz to Athlon XP 2000+ system, and various memory changes along the way, SP3, far too much software, et cetera ad slow-um.
01:13:15 <JohnTHaller> Yeah. I'm still finishing the rebuild since I stripped my box and installed Win7
01:13:35 <JohnTHaller> That was only a small part of the week from hell. Kinda the only part that didn't involve death.
01:14:16 <ChrisMorgan> And now it can shut down within 20 seconds... rather than 4 minutes.
01:14:40 <JohnTHaller> Yeah, mine boots in under a minute... instead of occasionally taking 5 or more now.
01:26:48 <ChrisMorgan> And everything was just slow. Having only 512MB of RAM didn't help with that.
01:28:32 <ChrisMorgan> With the Athlon it'd had 384MB, and with the 2000+ we got up to 768MB but found that one 256MB stick was bad and causing regular BSODs so we took it out (after experimenting)
01:29:36 *** dzjepp has quit (Ping timeout: 252 seconds)
01:48:25 <ZachThibeau> hmm from the lack of posts on the PChat dev test, either it's being tested and results are not being posted or no one has any interest in testing it :/

02:21:45 <ChrisMorgan> gluxon: as I've said many times... just leave it and put a note in that SVN passwords are not portable; help.html seems a good place.
02:22:20 <gluxon> Okay, so I still subversion's still going to be a roadblock that won't move? :(
02:22:47 <ChrisMorgan> No. As I've said, just leave it, it's fine.
02:23:02 <gluxon> Aw :(
02:23:29 <ChrisMorgan> Aw?
02:23:31 <ChrisMorgan> :-(?
02:23:54 <gluxon> Aw as in whining :P
02:24:02 <gluxon> Or Awwww. :P
02:24:56 <ChrisMorgan> Why though?
02:25:26 <gluxon> Cause I want Eclipse Portable official :P
02:27:18 <ChrisMorgan> But I'm not trying to stop it
02:27:22 <gluxon> BTW, tommorow's Eclipse Portable's 1st year aniversary :D
02:27:26 <gluxon> I know :)
02:27:28 <ChrisMorgan> As I've just said, "it's fine"
02:27:37 <ChrisMorgan> I should have a look through your launcher code though.
02:27:58 <ChrisMorgan> Any chance of a copy of the code sans Eclipse (i.e. a small single file to look at)
02:28:14 <gluxon> Sure. I'll send it to you now :)
02:28:45 <gluxon> Whole source folder, or EclipsePortable.nsi?
02:29:08 <ChrisMorgan> Just EclipsePortable.nsi I think
02:29:29 <ChrisMorgan> Then maybe I'll return you a PAL config file... you'd like that, wouldn't you ;-)
02:29:47 * gluxon doesn't want to send his source anymore :P
02:30:04 <ChrisMorgan> Thought you might say that :D
02:30:06 <gluxon> I'm pretty sure EclipsePortable.nsi does some stuff PAL can't do :P
02:30:54 <ChrisMorgan> Hand it to me and I'll be able to comment on it :-)
02:30:58 <ZachThibeau> SongbirdPortable.nsi does some stuff not every other launcher can do :P
02:31:55 <ChrisMorgan> That's just because I haven't put SQLite-handling code into the launcher yet... come to think of it I suppose Google Chrome Portable also does SQLite stuff
02:32:43 <Gizmokid2005> ChrisMorgan: you need to have hex file editing in there as well
02:32:53 <ZachThibeau> :P
02:33:05 * ChrisMorgan should take a look at it some time and work out how to wedge it all into the Launcher
02:33:18 <Gizmokid2005> I wouldn't want to see Hex Editing in there
02:33:20 <ZachThibeau> imho Gizmokid2005's launcher is the most advanced atm
02:33:26 <Gizmokid2005> it's too complex and WAY too few apps use it to make it worth it
02:33:33 <gluxon> ChrisMorgan: You should have subversion handling in there too :P (Joking)
02:33:43 <Gizmokid2005> there are going to be exceptions that won't be able to use /only/ PAL code
02:33:45 <ChrisMorgan> gluxon: I'm /not/ joking about /that/
02:33:51 <ChrisMorgan> Sure
02:34:10 <ChrisMorgan> I'll see what hex editing you do though... perhaps a small snippet of some such thing could be good.
02:34:27 <Gizmokid2005> it could be, but for the small amount of apps...
02:35:33 <Gizmokid2005> honestly, I don't think /any/ other app has hex editing in it.
02:36:11 <ChrisMorgan> gluxon: where's EclipsePortable.nsi?
02:36:46 <gluxon> Here :P http://gluxon.tk/applications/EclipsePortable/EclipsePortableSource.7z
02:38:38 <ChrisMorgan> gluxon: your server should not be reporting the Mime-Type as text/plain
02:39:25 <gluxon> It's... not? :P
02:40:07 <ChrisMorgan> gluxon: wget said that it was receiving text/plain. A browser may automatically compensate but wget won't.
02:40:18 <ChrisMorgan> gluxon: /global in var is superfluous in the global script area
02:40:36 <gluxon> So, I should remove all the /global tags?
02:41:08 <ChrisMorgan> Yep
02:41:19 <gluxon> Okay, Thanks :)

03:37:58 <computerfreaker> ZachThibeau: we're actually using /query right now. Thanks for the tip though!
03:38:19 <computerfreaker> hmm, is /msg publicly seen?

03:39:32 <Gizmokid2005> right
03:39:42 <computerfreaker> thanks for the confirmation!
03:40:12 <Varxtis> I didnt even know that IRC worked like this . . . lol. Its pretty efficient
03:40:37 <Varxtis> uh, maybe practical is a better term for it. . . idkj anyway lol
03:40:55 <computerfreaker> it's both efficient and practical
03:41:23 <computerfreaker> efficient because it uses very little Internet (I've heard one person say they used IRC when half their city had no Internet connection)
03:41:35 <computerfreaker> and practical because it's realtime, so collaboration is really easy
03:42:25 <Gizmokid2005> IRC is the frontrunner to IM
03:42:37 <Varxtis> Thats sweeet
03:42:50 <ChrisMorgan> ZachThibeau: /privmsg? Not in most clients...
03:43:51 <ChrisMorgan> And /query is just /msg and open a window (/msg is an IRC command, /query is a standard client command which opens a window for it and then /msgs the message)

09:06:06 <ChrisMorgan> Abdul: I've never heard or seen that message; comdlg32 is a core Windows component and so it most certainly should be there - it should be in C:\Windows\system32\comdlg32.dll
09:06:58 <Abdul> the application is : Portable Readiris Pro 12.0.5644 Multilingual
09:08:10 <ChrisMorgan> That's not one of our applications
09:08:30 <Abdul> the error message: "Unable to load DLL c:\progrqam files\readirirs pro12\rediris.exe->comdlg32.dll"
09:08:51 <ChrisMorgan> We can't support Readiris; it's not one of our applications.
09:09:02 <Abdul> oooh , i get u.
09:09:14 <Abdul> thanks,
09:09:34 <ChrisMorgan> Did you pay for it at all?
09:10:16 <Abdul> no, just want to try it before buing it.
09:10:25 <ChrisMorgan> You've got illegal software. ReadIris Pro is commercial software. The place you're getting it from is a bad, illegal site; considering that they're using illegal software to make other software portable, it shouldn't really be a surprise that it's broken.
09:12:27 <Abdul> thanks and have pleasant times,

23:44:35 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> so they do nothing to the registry
23:44:37 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> so they do nothing to the registry
23:44:39 <gluxon> Gizmokid2005: I know.
23:44:40 <Gizmokid2005> right SrgSiler|AFK
23:44:41 <Gizmokid2005> erm
23:44:44 <Gizmokid2005> SthrnDixieCwgrl right
23:44:52 <gluxon> Not completely.
23:45:03 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> all programs should be that way
23:45:06 <gluxon> Some PortableApps modify the registry temporarily.
23:45:10 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> less issues for me
23:45:46 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> why is there a documents folder in my program files folder it was not there before
23:45:52 <gluxon> Make a new folder in X: can call it PortableApps
23:46:10 <gluxon> SthrnDixieCwgrl: Did you install the Platform in X:\Program Files or just X:?
23:46:12 <Gizmokid2005> SthrnDixieCwgrl: because you installed the suite
23:46:24 <Gizmokid2005> the suite includes a Documents, Pictures, Music, and Videos folder
23:46:27 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> I downloaded the 1MB file
23:46:34 <Gizmokid2005> yes, that's the platform
23:46:37 *** rouilj1 has quit (Ping timeout: 264 seconds)
23:46:44 <Gizmokid2005> which is sometimes referred to as the suite
23:46:47 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> I meant the 2MB file
23:47:00 <gluxon> The platform ranges from 1-2MB.
23:47:05 *** pa_4474 (~6275d87f@gateway/web/freenode/x-gykwmqogfufyufta) has joined #portableapps
23:47:08 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> here it sways Platform Only
23:47:08 <Gizmokid2005> the suite should be installed to the root of your drive
23:47:24 <Gizmokid2005> SthrnDixieCwgrl: yes, and it /should/ be installed to the root of the drive.
23:47:28 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> where did the document folder come from when I downloaded Platform Only
23:47:30 <Gizmokid2005> and then all your apps should be installed to that.
23:47:36 <Gizmokid2005> SthrnDixieCwgrl: it's part of the platform
23:47:48 <Gizmokid2005> the Documents, music, video, and pictures folders all are.
23:47:55 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> it version of windows my documents
23:48:00 <Gizmokid2005> no
23:48:02 <Gizmokid2005> it's separate
23:48:12 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> I know it is seperate
23:48:21 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> but it is sort of the smae thing
23:48:25 <Gizmokid2005> yes
23:48:29 <Gizmokid2005> just meant to be on your flash drive
23:48:47 <gluxon> Okay, reinstall the platform to the root of you drive.
23:49:03 <gluxon> So when It prompts you to install, make sure it's [X]:\
23:49:19 <gluxon> What you did was [X]:\Program Files\ which is totally wrong :P
23:50:00 <pa_4474> Help: I mistakenly downloaded the app to my PC ilnstead of my USB Drive. How can I delete the app from my PC desktop?
23:50:21 <gluxon> Just delete the folder.
23:50:25 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> I reinstalled it and still nothing showed up
23:50:33 <gluxon> Nothing should yet.
23:50:47 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> what I have is a portable BLANK start menu
23:51:11 <gluxon> You should RIGHT now.
23:51:14 <gluxon> Okay.
23:51:24 <gluxon> Browse into your custom "Program Files" folder.
23:51:24 *** pa_4474 has quit (Client Quit)
23:51:45 *** pa_9456 (~6275d87f@gateway/web/freenode/x-ecwlurlbneqtrvco) has joined #portableapps
23:51:46 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> then how do I get firefox to show up without losing everything and reinstalling it
23:52:03 <gluxon> Listen, open up your custom Program Files folder.
23:52:12 <gluxon> That's what I'm telling you how to do :)
23:52:22 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> the one that I made the mistake of installing the platform to
23:53:05 <gluxon> Yes, and now we're moving the apps you just installed to a place the platform can see it.
23:53:21 <gluxon> e.g. Show up in the menu.
23:53:26 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> how
23:53:33 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> cut and paste
23:53:45 <gluxon> Yep.
23:54:02 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> if I did that in windows it would be on life support
23:54:03 <gluxon> So move X:\Program Files\Firefox into X:\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable
23:54:10 <gluxon> What do you mean?
23:55:03 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> if I took the installed version of firefox and cut that folder and pasted it somewhere else on my hard drive it would have a fit
23:55:47 <gluxon> Are you talking about syncing settings with Firefox and FirefoxPortable?
23:56:37 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> no
23:56:44 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> I meant if I went to C:\
23:56:48 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> program Files
23:57:10 *** qwertymodo has parted #portableapps ("Leaving.")
23:57:18 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> then right click on firefox folder and click on cut and then pasted it elsewhere Windows would have a fit
23:57:34 <gluxon> What do you mean, "have a fit" ?
23:57:46 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> be come unstable
23:57:51 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> blue screen
23:57:58 <gluxon> >_<
23:58:02 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> explorere constantly crashing
23:58:35 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> then I have to redo the hard drive and waste about 10 hours trying to back things up put things back on
23:58:47 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> I went to X:\Portable Apps and I saw a folder in there
23:58:50 <gluxon> Okay, Where did you install 7-Zip Portable, FirefoxPortable, and SeaMonkey Portable to again?
23:59:05 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> X:\Program Files\
23:59:06 <gluxon> X:\Portable Apps, or X:\PortableApps (without the space).
23:59:27 <gluxon> Yeah, go into [X]:\Program Files\ NOT C:\Program Files.
23:59:27 <SthrnDixieCwgrl> that is where they have been since the day I installed them many months ago
