01:58:32 <ChrisMorgan> Anyone know how to set the language of a Qt app?
01:59:32 <ChrisMorgan> Hmm, does seem to be LANG, at least with ConvertAll.
02:00:14 <sar3th> hang on please, i'm cheking in the docs
02:00:26 <ChrisMorgan> Well setting LANG=de is changing the language for ConvertAll.
02:00:29 <ZachThibeau> well convertall is pyqt so there maybe some differences from Python bindings and the c++ ones
02:00:31 <ChrisMorgan> And that's all I care about at the moment :P
02:00:38 <ChrisMorgan> There shouldn't be in that.
02:01:06 <ChrisMorgan> Updating to 0.5.0b ran very smoothly, now all I need to do is add language switching to the launcher... or switch it to PAL ;-)
02:01:31 <ChrisMorgan> It'd actually be a good test case as it uses the Qt keys and the customColors stuff.
02:01:50 <ChrisMorgan> So even if I send it to JohnTHaller with its existing launcher, not much changed, I can still try PALing it.
02:02:15 <ChrisMorgan> Bye, off to a lecture now.
02:03:02 <ChrisMorgan> btw ZachThibeau I've had the go-beserk-100%-CPU-usage problem once yesterday and once the day before... still no idea what triggers it

02:37:35 <GizmoBot> sar3th: I'll pass that on when ChrisMorgan is around.

04:15:47 <ChrisMorgan> Good, language switching in ConvertAll is working properly :-)
04:16:42 <ChrisMorgan> sar3th, thanks, that (language switching app-specific with Qt) was something I suspected, as I've seen Qt apps with menu items for it and some without.
04:16:56 <ChrisMorgan> It was just that there was no documentation on it at all with ConvertAll.

04:49:14 <ChrisMorgan> Ah good, this ConvertAll Qt customColors code is easy enough to follow and to make it fairly easy to implement in the PortableApps.com Launcher :-)
04:54:36 <ChrisMorgan> Got it! I've decided how a [RegistryKeys] section which doesn't need to save the values should work: provide a "file name" of -
05:17:21 <sar3th> how is the documentation coming along?
05:18:01 <ChrisMorgan> I tend to be just adding things as I go. No big new sections explaining the mysteries of life.
05:18:26 <sar3th> so docs are relatively complete?
05:18:33 <ChrisMorgan> Yep.
05:18:41 <sar3th> good
05:18:46 <ChrisMorgan> The manual covers more than the help file did.
05:21:23 <ChrisMorgan> It's nice turning 288 lines of NSIS code into 18 of INI.
05:22:12 <sar3th> it's nice watching a 3ghz dual core with 3gb ram lagging your system to uselessness
05:22:21 <ChrisMorgan> I don't find it so.
05:22:40 <sar3th> you will automagically calm down, cos you need to wait longer
05:23:44 <ChrisMorgan> Hmm... just looking at System I see that this system's CPU is a C2D E6550... strange, Task Manager is only reporting one core, and when PChat goes crunch it uses 100%...
05:25:31 <ChrisMorgan> Anyway, this 2.33GHz dual core with 2GB of RAM works surprisingly fast. A full regshot including the user profile directory (fairly empty) takes about 6 seconds - under 20% of the time I've seen on any other system with even just the registry.
05:25:57 <sar3th> do you have lots of software installed
05:25:57 <sar3th> ?
05:26:05 <ChrisMorgan> A fair bit.
05:26:23 <sar3th> is the manual not in the hg repo?
05:26:30 <ChrisMorgan> It is, Other\Source\Manual
05:26:42 <sar3th> oh :/
05:27:00 <ChrisMorgan> That's the source, then it gets built to App\Manual.
05:27:29 <sar3th> you have a bat file in there, with unix-style linefeeds
05:27:53 <ChrisMorgan> Do I? How tragic. It works :D
05:28:03 <ChrisMorgan> Blame sphinx-quickstart ;-)
05:28:23 <ChrisMorgan> Ahh... the whole repository is a mess of CR and CRLF...
05:28:24 <sar3th> i assume i need to make release

05:28:59 <ChrisMorgan> Hmm, suppose I do :-/
05:29:13 <ChrisMorgan> "Ahh... the whole repository is a mess of LF and CRLF..."
05:29:32 <ChrisMorgan> make_release builds everything.
05:29:46 <sar3th> is that undesired?
05:29:47 <ChrisMorgan> Manual, Generator, launcher, installer.
05:30:01 <ChrisMorgan> If you just want the manual, Other\Source\Manual\make.bat is all that you need.
05:30:11 <sar3th> erm
05:30:21 <sar3th> C:\PAL\Other\Source\Manual>make
05:30:21 <sar3th> Please use `make <target>` where <target> is one of
05:30:28 <sar3th> i spare you the rest of the code
05:30:32 <ChrisMorgan> Yep.
05:30:34 <sar3th> which target is the right one
05:30:39 <ChrisMorgan> make release
05:30:46 <ChrisMorgan> Sorry, I was thinking of ../make_release.bat
05:30:52 <sar3th> ok
05:31:02 <sar3th> make.bat is not working properly...
05:31:03 <ChrisMorgan> make release just does clean then html into App\Manual rather than App\Manual\html.
05:31:12 <ChrisMorgan> You'll still need sphinx and all its dependencies.
05:31:44 <ChrisMorgan> i.e. sphinx, docutils, jinja2 and pygments
05:31:51 <sar3th> someone should teach ppl how to write batch files

05:38:04 <Gringoloco_> I've been away for a bit, but still wonder if I should worry about Simeon's registry plug-in problem on Wine ?
05:39:02 <ChrisMorgan> Wine 1.0 support would be a good thing, but 1.1 seems to support it all properly.
05:39:36 <ChrisMorgan> I think, though, that the problem applied to the 4.0 format as well, as it didn't used to work for me either.
05:39:59 <ChrisMorgan> It'll be caught by the launcher and so things won't be messed up, it's possibly worth while putting in a message box, but I think we'd be OK to leave it as it is.
05:40:17 <Gringoloco_> ChrisMorgan: So your saying, probably it's the v5, utf-16LE ?
05:40:31 <ChrisMorgan> The main Wine release works with it, and that's the version in the Ubuntu 10.04 package list.
05:40:42 <ChrisMorgan> I don't think so. I think it's some other Wine 1.0 issue.

05:42:34 <Gringoloco_> ChrisMorgan: Ok so I do not worry about it, could you leave a reply in the testing topic about this ?
05:43:48 <ChrisMorgan> I wonder whether it's worth while constructing a test of the old, REGEDIT4 plugin that we've used for time immemorial, just to see if the issue is v5.00 or Wine 1.0?
05:44:29 <Gringoloco_> Ok, I could do that.
05:44:36 <ChrisMorgan> That'd probably be helpful.
05:44:59 <ChrisMorgan> Then we can see whether it's going to be in the nature of a regression or merely a continuing of not working with Wine 1.0.
05:46:01 <Gringoloco_> But anyway, I do not think there is an option to save .reg files in REGEDIT4 format, when using UnicodeNSIS ?
05:46:22 <Gringoloco_> I'll see....
05:46:30 <ChrisMorgan> I don't know. Was your ANSI plug-in making REGEDIT4 or Registry Editor v5.00 files?
05:46:41 <ChrisMorgan> If the former then the whole question is resolved already.

08:41:48 <Scriptdaemon> ChrisMorgan, I just finished talking to the Revo Uninstaller developers about UPXing Revo Uninstaller (they stopped doing it themselves), and they said that doing so prevents debugging correctly (which doesn't affect us as far as I know), but the digital signature is lost. Even though it doesn't actually show since the launcher loads the UAC pop-up, would it still be recommended to not UPX if they sign their apps?
