00:57:11 <Pyromaniac> Midori Portable has been released!
00:57:12 <Pyromaniac> http://portableapps.com/node/23777
00:58:23 <Pyromaniac> I ran a regshot on shareaza, I found over 2000 values that were modified!
01:06:10 *** gluxon has quit (Quit: Leaving.)
01:12:12 * Pyromaniac wonders why there are always so many people logged into the chatroom, but no one dares say a word
01:17:41 <ChrisMorgan> Pyromaniac: you've got a lot to learn about IRC still. There's this crazy concept of "lurking" where people stay in a channel and absolutely never say anything, just to get the logs (even if the channel isn't logged). Looking down the list, we've got seven or eight of them. And three bots. And a number of people that don't say anything very often. And the channels quiet at the moment, we don't *need* to make noise in it.
01:18:15 <Pyromaniac> interesting
01:24:48 <sar3th> well, that's partially right ^^
01:28:18 * ZachThibeau is a semi lurker
01:28:49 <ZachThibeau> most of the time it's because I'm in front of code::blocks working on PChat :P
01:28:58 <ChrisMorgan> :-)

02:19:05 <ChrisMorgan> Subtract one from the /total/ lurkers list.
02:19:11 <SergentSiler> lolz
02:19:23 * SergentSiler is in the top 10 lurkers
02:19:54 <SergentSiler> the 5 sentinces ive spoken in this channel the past few days are the only ones since about october
02:22:38 <Veixes> We must be in Lurking Olympus. I dwell in awe
02:23:08 <ChrisMorgan> I really don't understand why you do it.

06:48:45 <Gringoloco> ChrisMorgan: Is language swirching really needed in ${SegementInit}
06:48:59 <ChrisMorgan> Gringoloco: why would it go anywhere else?
06:49:17 <ChrisMorgan> That seems to me to be the most appropriate location.
06:49:25 <Gringoloco> one sec
06:50:16 <Gringoloco> ${SegementPre}, it's not needed on secondary launch
06:51:10 <ChrisMorgan> (a) Pre is primary and secondary, PrePrimary and PreSecondary for primary/secondary specific things.
06:51:25 <ChrisMorgan> (b) language switching is most certainly needed on secondary launches.
06:51:45 <Gringoloco> Ok, if you say so
06:52:13 <ChrisMorgan> For example, if an application uses an environment variable for language switching (and this seems to me to be the most consistent way of doing it, and possibly the most common, especially in GTK etc. apps).
06:53:07 <ChrisMorgan> So it's better to always set it and leave the hypothetical FileWrite to just not happen if it's secondary.
06:53:41 <Gringoloco> I was just having a (small) problem with writing custumcode...
06:54:19 <ChrisMorgan> What?
06:55:43 <Gringoloco> ...to deal with the REG_DWORD. The problem was that in the custum SegmentInit there are no env.variables set or $Datadirectory
06:56:41 <Gringoloco> Had to use $EXEDIR\Data\settings
06:57:12 <ChrisMorgan> That is an area which needs great care. I might slip a quick note into the manual to that effect.
06:57:34 <ChrisMorgan> But what's needing to be done with "the REG_DWORD"?
06:57:50 <ChrisMorgan> If it's stuff for portability, it should go in Pre.
06:58:01 <Gringoloco> intfmt $0 "%d" "0x$0"
06:58:32 <Gringoloco> But it's for the language switching, so it has to run just before the language segment
06:58:55 <ChrisMorgan> Ah. Because the registry plug-in doesn't deal with REG_DWORD properly?
06:59:20 <ChrisMorgan> I still don't understand precisely what you're trying to do.
07:00:00 <Gringoloco> Base=%PortableApps.comLocaleID%
07:00:46 <Gringoloco> Thats a decimal value which PAL writes the value to the registry in decimal
07:02:19 <Gringoloco> But when the reg file gets saved it saves it as hexadecimal, which would only be a problem if the menu is not used (I think) but still it's a problem
07:03:26 <ChrisMorgan> When you write the REG_DWORD to the registry does it take hex or decimal as input?
07:04:01 <Gringoloco> Decimal !
07:04:23 <Gringoloco> Which is fine cause LocacleID is decimal
07:04:37 <ChrisMorgan> But then the registry stuff writes it as hex, sans 0x?
07:04:57 <Gringoloco> ?
07:05:25 <ChrisMorgan> Exporting the registry key writes to the file as hex, without the "0x" at the start?
07:06:14 <Gringoloco> yes, =dword:0123abcd
07:06:34 <ChrisMorgan> Hmm. Interesting issue.
07:07:27 <ChrisMorgan> Sounds like the sort of thing which should be catered for in PAL as it could crop up more than once.
07:07:33 <Gringoloco> CustumCode sorts it out, but I just do not like using $EXEDIR\Data\settings
07:09:12 <ChrisMorgan> The only situation to think of there is RunLocally, when that will be read-only. It should still work then, shouldn't it?
07:09:47 <Gringoloco> ?
07:12:11 <ChrisMorgan> $DataDirectory/%PAL:DataDir% are always $EXEDIR\Data, except when run in Live mode, where you can (and should) assume that the disk is read-only, and make no modifications. This will work without changing anything, right?
07:17:54 <ChrisMorgan> FYI, I killed off ANSI support completely. And fixed that registered trademark symbol.
