00:08:35 <pa_5996> @ChrisMorgan - Hello, I notice a very minor omission in gVimPortable. the \Other\Source\AppNamePortable.ini hasn't been renamed.
00:09:17 <ChrisMorgan> pa_5996: that's not an omission, that's just the way it is with the PortableApps.com Launcher template at the moment; if you read readme.txt you'll see it mentions you need to rename it.
00:09:48 <pa_5996> ah i see gotcha. thanks.
00:10:04 <ChrisMorgan> Later with another tool I've got in mind it may go back to having the same name, but at the moment I'm leaving Other as a directory which is the same across all apps using the PortableApps.com Launcher [template]
00:10:44 <pa_5996> cool. no worries.
00:10:51 <ChrisMorgan> Thanks thoguh
00:10:53 <ChrisMorgan> *though
00:10:55 <pa_5996> Thanks for the release :)
00:11:24 <ChrisMorgan> You're welcome :-) Now I just wish someone would update gVim to 7.3 in the Ubuntu package repository...
00:12:02 <ZachThibeau> ChrisMorgan: you could look at some launchpad ppa's or compile your own release :P
00:12:18 <ZachThibeau> I usually compile my own updates personally
00:13:06 <ChrisMorgan> ZachThibeau: yeah, I was thinking I might see about how to submit it upstream today or tomorrow. With Linux it's generally easy to compile an app like gVim - not like on Windows where you need to get this, get that, set up this, set up that, ...
00:13:30 <ZachThibeau> actually I find that part the easiest :P
00:14:02 <ZachThibeau> compiling is a little different altogether, when you need to apply patches to make it work for x platform etc

00:34:15 <ChrisMorgan> ZachThibeau: yep, two people have already got a PPA of it, one including a Lucid version. Got it now :-)
00:34:45 <ZachThibeau> ppa's are generally pretty useful
00:34:57 <ZachThibeau> I much prefer compiling my own releases though :P
00:35:57 <ChrisMorgan> I use a bunch of PPAs. I'm generally too lazy to make and make install. Doesn't upgrade easily like the auto-build PPAs.
00:36:21 <ZachThibeau> thats make && sudo make install ;)
00:36:32 <ZachThibeau> I guess that means you really are lazy :P
00:38:10 <ChrisMorgan> I call it "efficient".
00:38:48 <ZachThibeau> I call things compiled by me for my system more efficient for my computer :P
00:39:12 <ChrisMorgan> Hah.
00:39:19 <ZachThibeau> I had friends say I should of been a gentoo user
00:39:36 <ChrisMorgan> Sounds fairly accurate.
00:39:55 <sar3th> indeed
00:40:22 <ZachThibeau> I'm more drawn to debian though

04:39:28 <PatrickPatience> HTML. All Ryan's fault.
04:39:30 <PatrickPatience> But hey it works.
04:39:43 <PatrickPatience> Also: Two year anniversary coming up!
04:39:58 <PatrickPatience> Two years of logs come next Wednesday.
04:39:58 <ChrisMorgan> Flametail: three changes. Line 74 added, Loggy.offlog = 'â' instead of '[off]', and port 8000 is specified
04:40:12 <Flametail> BTWPatrickPatience before you go...
04:40:34 <ChrisMorgan> And none of those should change anything.
04:40:42 <Flametail> the original loggy doesnt record actual messages, just join/parts/nickchange etc

04:41:07 <PatrickPatience> Think it logs stuff.
04:41:08 <PatrickPatience> But ya know.
04:41:25 <Flametail> but everyone says you fixed it to log messages xD
04:41:36 <Flametail> are you a fake? :)
04:42:00 <PatrickPatience> Ryan touched it!
04:42:08 <PatrickPatience> All I did was have it sort reverse-chronologically.
04:42:39 <ChrisMorgan> Flametail: I said that a some modifications had been made. The log sorting was the only one I knew that Patrick had made, and I knew Ryan had done something to it - that'll be the Python code stuff.
04:42:39 <PatrickPatience> So how about that guy that emailed me to have me remove him from the internet.
04:42:43 <ChrisMorgan> But it doesn't amount to anything.
04:42:44 <PatrickPatience> I was all like, "Lol, rights...
04:43:35 <ChrisMorgan> PatrickPatience: not polite response: "what, are the police chasing you?" Polite response: "Not unless there is a *really* good reason, because that would make the logs inaccurate. Why are you wanting it removed, anyway?"

12:03:05 <sar3th> nice!
12:03:14 <sar3th> yup, i have the dev version installed locally
12:04:50 <sar3th> but since the installer tends to mess with your normal, local install, it's great that we now also have the devtest as portableapp
12:05:11 <JohnTHaller> yeah, that's why i built it. same as with firefox and chrome.
12:05:58 <sar3th> one thing: is it desired behaviour that the dev test won't start as long as you have an existing opera instance running?
12:06:13 <JohnTHaller> neither will. it's to keep them from stepping on each other
12:06:23 <sar3th> ok
12:06:42 <JohnTHaller> they all share a single reg key they mess with. dev and stable. portable and desktop.

12:08:01 <JohnTHaller> ya
12:08:03 <KookyMan> I've come across an interesting happenstance... Why is a portable edition of FF inheriting a toolbar from the host system when it's running on it?
12:08:22 <JohnTHaller> if the toolbar is installed as a plugin, the portable version gets it.
12:08:45 <KookyMan> It's Adobe crap.
12:08:45 <JohnTHaller> if the host system is running an annoying antivirus software that likes to autoinstall its toolbar, it'll detect the portable version and install into that
12:08:55 <JohnTHaller> Contribute?
12:08:58 <KookyMan> yes
12:09:16 <JohnTHaller> Plugin. Disable it within the portable FF and restart. It should stay disabled on all PCs you use.
12:09:34 <KookyMan> It reactivates every time I plug into that machine.
12:09:55 <KookyMan> let me check something real quick.,
12:09:57 <JohnTHaller> Hmm. Odd. I haven't seen that myself (and I have Contribute installed here). I am running CS4.
12:10:16 <JohnTHaller> Note: Don't uninstall it (if that option is available), disable it.
12:10:26 <KookyMan> Uninstall isn't available
12:11:57 <KookyMan> It's normally listed on the Extentions list, not plugins... And it doesn't error that it is missing when it's plugged into other machines.
12:12:19 <KookyMan> I just fired up my portable FF.. (FF4b6 is what I'm looking at now).
12:12:32 <JohnTHaller> It shouldn't. In that case, it could be installing to global extensions on that PC (All Users within APPDATA).
12:12:51 <JohnTHaller> It could be a beta bug. Try regular FFP and see if it works there.
12:13:33 <KookyMan> Switching....
12:14:44 <KookyMan> FF3.6.10 is not showing the TB now, I'll check it as soon as I get into school. But IIRC, it shows up in 3.6 as well on that machine.
12:15:06 <JohnTHaller> Ok.
12:15:58 <KookyMan> It's not appearing to install to the FFP, otherwise the bar should follow me once it's been installed, or at least give an error of missing files shouldn't it?
12:16:39 <JohnTHaller> No, it doesn't install. It's on the local PC. But FF can't be set to ignore global stuff, so FFP will see it and use it. Same with plugins.

12:19:19 <KookyMan> rephrase.. would a plugin local to the host machine override a plugin that is installed to the portable directory?
12:19:38 <JohnTHaller> don't know actually. may take whatever version is higher.
12:19:56 <KookyMan> I always get the "flash is outdated" warning.
12:20:45 <KookyMan> I've updated the plugin in the FF directory, I've updated the plugin on the host machine... never stops
12:20:57 <JohnTHaller> You have an extra copy in Data\plugins?
12:21:36 <KookyMan> yes
12:21:53 <JohnTHaller> Ditch it. Just use FF\plugins and the local one and ensure both are updated
12:22:22 <KookyMan> Ok... will test and talk to you later..
12:22:26 <JohnTHaller> Ok

12:35:48 <ChrisMorgan> Think I may remove the half-baked DLL registration stuff for 2.1. I don't think Gringoloco's going to have enough time to fix it all up in time. The field of type libraries and DLL servers is a lot more complex in how it's implemented than either of us realised initially.

12:37:32 <JohnTHaller> rcmaehl: Yeah, the other stuff will be grayed out. And I think I have a fix for icon alpha issues in Wine. Backup and restore may get an update for 2.0 to fix the issue.
12:37:54 <ChrisMorgan> rcmaehl: 7-Zip shouldn't be a problem, it's included in the package.
12:38:10 <ChrisMorgan> And the Backup/Restore batch scripts don't run properly? I admit I've never tried running a batch file in Wine.
