05:22:30 <JacobMastel> Yeah go ahead shoot away.
05:22:50 <pa_4720> I installed Port Apps on a sandisk flash drive and a West Digital ext drive. Since the install, the remove hardware system won't allow a safe disconnect. It says it is either being used or try later. I rebooted once, listening to the WD grind to a halt, and the WD will still not stop so I can unplug it safely. I deleted all the files, the installer, yet the WD insignia is gone and the PA icon is still listed under t
05:23:51 <JacobMastel> The PA icon is controled by a file in {drive}:\autorun.inf
05:24:17 <JacobMastel> The whole can't remove thing is honestly a WD drive. I have the same problem, but have always had that problem.
05:25:32 <pa_4720> Are you saying that as far as you know, it is not a PA issue?
05:26:48 <JacobMastel> Correct. The icon was definitely us. You can fix that by changing the autorun.inf file to whatever it was before you installed PortableApps. (Or just delete it). The not being able to eject thing seems to be a drive issue from WD. I have a WD passport with the same issue, and I know someone with their giant drive (the book like thing) and they all have th esame problem.
05:31:02 <pa_4720> OK, I will try and copy you instructs to delete the icon, and turn the WD off. I thought I had turned it off before with the safety feature, so the metal doesn't grind. I have a good seagate ext drive and did not want to install PA if it was going to cause extra usage by grinding on the unplug. I am not a pro- do I understand right that the grind on just unlugging is best to avoid? Has you WD held up to that or did you just

11:15:12 <lwc> I was wondering about the status of http://portableapps.com/node/26192
11:15:26 <lwc> It seems fully working, but there's no progress by your side.
11:15:46 <lwc> And yes, it's in http://portableapps.com/development/test
11:16:23 <lwc> Should I just put it in http://portableapps.com/node/11772
11:16:24 <lwc> ?
11:18:26 <sar3th> hm...so no one tested your app?
11:18:44 <lwc> How can I tell? All I know is it got 0 replies.
11:19:02 <lwc> But it's not like I have a way to tell them to test it. They probably don't even notice it.
11:19:17 <lwc> The only thing that I can do is put it in http://portableapps.com/node/11772
11:19:51 *** MaienM has quit (Read error: Operation timed out)
11:19:55 <lwc> But that page requires "it has been tested by folks and no bugs are found". If "folks" meaning other people than myself, than it's a problem.
11:20:32 <sar3th> well, you posted it in the right section..usually, someone from the release team will take a look and leave a message if any problems are encountered, so you can fix them...they go through the beta testing forum regularly
11:21:09 <sar3th> you might wanna post a message to your topic instead, claiming it needs to be tested
11:21:33 <sar3th> cause "folks" usually means exactly that ^^
11:21:59 <lwc> So are you saying I should just bump sar3th http://portableapps.com/node/26192 ?
11:22:40 <sar3th> i'm saying that's what i'd do, but i'm not an official from PortableApps, just a developer, as you are
11:23:10 <sar3th> as you said, http://portableapps.com/node/11772 is for apps that have been tested and "proven" to work fine
11:23:50 <lwc> The problem with bumping is that it's expected to be a one time thing.
11:24:03 <lwc> If I were to bump it again later, it would probably look annoying.
11:24:15 <sar3th> indeed
11:24:15 <lwc> So I need to be careful about using my "one time" bump.
11:25:15 <sar3th> yup, that's smart...another way would be to ask someone from the releaseteam on irc to take a look at the app when they have some free time
11:28:37 <lwc> Thus is why I'm here...

22:09:53 <sar3th> Thasmo: still around?
22:10:40 <Thasmo> sar3th, yep.
22:22:44 <sar3th> you were looking for a way to add something to the portableapps menu?
22:24:36 <Thasmo> sar3th, well - I know how to add "other" apps to it, with creating a new folder with an exe file in it. But I'd like to launch an Application, which does _not_ exist inside the apps folder, but outside.
22:25:06 <Thasmo> But I'd like to show it in the pa.c Menu 2.0.
22:28:48 <sar3th> Thasmo: i once wrote a tutorial on how to add batch files to the portableapps menu. you can try to follow that guide and substitude the batch file with the file you want to launch. i'm not 100% sure if it will work, but it should
22:28:58 <sar3th> the link for the tutorial is http://portableapps.com/node/21757
22:29:20 <Thasmo> ok thanks a lot sar3th, I'll have a look.
22:29:58 <sar3th> sure. if you have any questions, feel free to ask :)
22:29:58 <gluxon> Thasmo: With 2.0 Beta 5, or 1.6 you don't need a batch.
22:30:04 <gluxon> You can set a dummy file.
22:30:07 <sar3th> also, feedback is appreciated
22:30:15 <sar3th> gluxon: >_<
22:30:16 <Thasmo> I got beta 5
22:30:18 <Thasmo> :>
22:30:20 <sar3th> read what i wrote again
22:30:46 <Thasmo> you mean 'read again what i wrote' nvm jk xD
22:49:08 <Kiriko> sar3th: nice tutorial and hpw to use a batch file for PA.c Platform :-D
22:50:07 <sar3th> thanks

23:05:29 <Thasmo> Hey, does anyone know a software to compare two directories for differences on directory/file level AND file contents level - like a diff viewer but comparing whole directory structure - for windows? THanks!
23:06:16 <Kiriko> Winmerge lets you that
23:06:27 <Thasmo> ow nice then
23:06:27 <sar3th> WinMerge? http://winmerge.org/ and http://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/winmerge_portable
23:06:35 <sar3th> oh, sorry Kiriko ^^
23:06:37 <Thasmo> thanks Kiriko, got that installed anyway.
23:06:41 <Kiriko> lol np
23:06:45 <Thasmo> thx sar3th anyway ;o)
23:06:52 <sar3th> yw
23:06:58 <Kiriko> yw
23:07:31 <Kiriko> the funny thing about that is that i was just using that program last night for the first time
23:09:25 <Thasmo> Kiriko, comparing folder structure seems a bit odd so.
23:10:23 <Kiriko> yea I was just making sure that everything I copyid from the compter to my flash drive was as the original
23:10:56 <Kiriko> it is not something i do normaly but the winmerge lets you do it
23:12:23 <Kiriko> also you can use Synkron to keep your files up to date http://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/synkron_portable
23:13:24 <Thasmo> Kiriko, thanks - but I need to compare an old folder structure with a new one, completely with missing/new files and changed content.
23:13:37 <Kiriko> ah ok
23:13:56 <Kiriko> hey why is that your name some times show in gold color?
23:14:22 <Thasmo> mine?
23:14:52 <Thasmo> or yours?
23:14:54 <Kiriko> yea, it sime to happen when direct a comment to me
23:14:58 <Kiriko> yours
23:15:09 <Thasmo> its a IRC client feature I guess.
23:15:25 <Thasmo> when one writes my name, the line is highlighted and it makes a beep sound.
23:15:33 <Thasmo> Kiriko
23:15:34 <Thasmo> Kiriko
23:15:34 <sar3th> Kiriko: it's probably when someone "pings" you, i.e. mentions your name in his message
23:15:35 <Thasmo> ;o)
23:15:55 <Kiriko> lol ok now I see
23:18:43 <gluxon> Kiriko: It's a pidgin feature to help the message "stand out" :)
23:20:09 <Kiriko> yea but i also used Pchat and it did the same thing just diferent color, but the most important part is that it dose it job of letting you know that person is actualy talking to you :)
23:21:24 <Kiriko> hey if you guys have the history channel you should watch it
