12:35:29 <pa_2634> Portable software ?
12:37:08 <TPFC-SYSTEM> pa_2634: What kind of information do you want?
12:40:58 <pa_2634> How can I make an executable database with Base? I want to create a database that can be run from a cd without forcing a user to install openoffice.
12:42:42 <pa_2634> hello are you with me
12:43:14 <TPFC-SYSTEM> Your question isn't specific to PortableApps.com.
12:43:24 <TPFC-SYSTEM> I have no idea how to do that. :(
12:44:07 <pa_2634> StartPortableApps how to use it plz
12:44:29 <TPFC-SYSTEM> Double-click?
12:45:04 <pa_2634> yes Double-clicked
12:45:26 <pa_2634> what is appliction for that
12:45:53 <TPFC-SYSTEM> StarPortableApps.exe starts PortableApps.com Menu.
12:46:18 <TPFC-SYSTEM> Using that menu you can start other PA.c applications.
12:46:41 <pa_2634> but i can't get idea
12:47:08 <pa_2634> can u give ex. plz
12:48:36 <pa_2634> hello are you with me
12:49:01 <TPFC-SYSTEM> Here is a screenshot of the menu: http://cdn.portableapps.com/platform.png
12:49:34 <TPFC-SYSTEM> For example, double-clicking the text "Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition" starts Firefox Portable.
12:51:19 <pa_2634> i can't get benfits for application of StarPortableApps.exe
12:52:11 <pa_2634> http://cdn.portableapps.com/platform.png this stage i reached not opening directory for given Drive
12:52:50 <TPFC-SYSTEM> Do you mean that the application list is empty?
12:53:05 <pa_2634> yes
12:53:42 <TPFC-SYSTEM> OK, the explanation is simple.
12:54:01 <TPFC-SYSTEM> Most likely you have downloaded ONLY the platform, but not any applications.
12:54:50 <TPFC-SYSTEM> You can download PortableApps.com Suite (many applications bundled) and install it over the platform.
12:54:52 <TPFC-SYSTEM> http://portableapps.com/download
12:55:31 <TPFC-SYSTEM> Alternatively you can browse individual applications and install them one by one: http://portableapps.com/apps
12:56:17 <pa_2634> yes sir i downloaded and instaled i didn't get facilites
12:57:20 <TPFC-SYSTEM> What about the second option?
12:57:24 <TPFC-SYSTEM> Instructions: http://portableapps.com/support/portable_apps_suite#addingapps
12:59:41 <pa_2634> can I make an executable database with Base? I want to create a database that can be run from a cd without forcing a user to install openoffice
13:01:10 <TPFC-SYSTEM> Oh, in fact I got an idea.
13:01:33 <TPFC-SYSTEM> You can enable the Live mode of OpenOffice.org Portable ( http://portableapps.com/support/openoffice_portable#cd ).
13:02:20 <TPFC-SYSTEM> After that, you can make the CD to automatically run OOo Portable (supply the filename of the DB as a command-line argument).
13:02:38 <pa_2634> plz explain details
13:03:46 <TPFC-SYSTEM> For autorun, you need to create a file called autorun.inf (that file must end up at the root of the CD).
13:04:03 <TPFC-SYSTEM> The file has to contain the following two lines:
13:04:09 <TPFC-SYSTEM> [Autorun]
13:04:40 <TPFC-SYSTEM> open=OpenOfficePortable\OpenOfficePortable.exe files\database.db
13:05:01 <TPFC-SYSTEM> (You may need to adjust the paths at the second line)
13:06:00 <TPFC-SYSTEM> When the CD is inserted, Windows runs OpenOfficePortable.exe (= PortableApps.com Launcher) with the parameter specified.
13:06:14 <TPFC-SYSTEM> PAL passes the argument over to soffice.exe.
13:06:32 <TPFC-SYSTEM> Finally, OOo Portable opens the file.
13:11:10 <pa_2634> i didn't get sir what you are explaining
13:11:50 <TPFC-SYSTEM> There are three main points.
13:11:58 <TPFC-SYSTEM> * Autorun.inf
13:12:05 <TPFC-SYSTEM> * OOo Portable Live
13:12:13 <TPFC-SYSTEM> * The database file
13:12:49 <TPFC-SYSTEM> In short, autorun.inf causes OOo Portable Live to launch and open the file.
13:16:22 <TPFC-SYSTEM> I have to go now.
13:16:26 <TPFC-SYSTEM> Cheers!

21:39:19 <george2> Everybody keeps talking about Gucci, and I never saw no gucci.
21:39:39 <george2> Isn't that a clothing designer or something?
21:42:26 <george2> JAWS: You can ask on the forums about app bugs, just create a new post with "[Bugs] Hedgewars Portable Whatevertheversionnumberis" as the name. If you have a forum account, that is.

22:05:33 <george2> jason404: What's this about gucci?
22:06:36 <jason404> Some spammer thought it was a good idea to spam the forum with links regarding counterfeit Guccu handbags
22:06:45 <george2> Ah
22:06:51 <kAlug> george2: a massive spam attack that occurred ~18 hours ago (last count was 134 topics)
22:07:02 <george2> Wow, that's a lot.
22:07:02 <jason404> he obviously didn't know that we all got out Gucci handbags long ago
22:07:11 <george2> xD
22:07:30 <george2> I just saw gucci references in the logs, and no hint of why.
22:10:43 <kAlug> Hey, anyone with a 64-bit Windows and some free time for testing here?
22:10:56 <george2> When do you need the testing done?
22:11:02 <sar3th> depends what you need ^^
22:11:16 <george2> I have access to 64s on probably saturday
22:11:18 <jason404> I'm using Win7 Enterrpise x64
22:11:24 <kAlug> Just a couple minutes moving files around...
22:11:36 <sar3th> okay
22:11:52 <jason404> well, you've spent time helping me in the past, so fire away
22:15:26 <kAlug> I want to make sure that http://portableapps.com/node/26987#comment-179710 works as expected.
22:16:12 <kAlug> So, it's just a matter of copying some files/dirs and check they are copied correctly.
22:16:34 <george2> "can crash your system"? :3
22:16:50 <george2> I better not, they're public computers.
22:17:00 <kAlug> See the last post.
22:17:10 <jason404> ok. does it keep the original timestamps intact? that is the reason I usually do all such operations using Robocopy or XXCOPY

22:20:31 <kAlug> The base app website had no warnings for previous versions, so I assume it's safe. I'm not so sure about how deep those things go in the system, but TeraCopy doesn't have a x64 version, so I guess it's just a performance issue (as with 7-Zip).
22:21:17 <sar3th> erm, kAlug
22:21:25 <george2> What kind of crash was there?
22:21:27 <sar3th> in that package, i can only see a 32-bit executable
22:21:44 <jason404> kAlug: It seems to work fine here. It even keeps directory timestamp intact, which is great
22:21:49 <sar3th> also, teracopy uses 64-bit for the shell extension on 64 bit systems
22:22:00 <sar3th> so i this might do that too?
22:22:46 <jason404> yeah, it is showing as a 32-bit app in Task Manager here
22:22:55 <jason404> seems to work fine though
22:26:42 <kAlug> sar3th: Yep. the package is 32-bit only. We don't need shell extensions (by now).
22:29:47 <JAWS> hey george2, what bug are you talking about?
22:31:21 <george2> JAWS: Weren't you asking about a Hedgewars bug?
22:32:24 <JAWS> not really just wanted to know if it took the teams with it
22:32:44 <george2> Oh, ok.
22:33:27 <JAWS> btw, just saw that the PA.c got a major site makeover looks nice! :)
22:33:35 <george2> It did?
22:33:38 * george2 looks
22:33:55 <george2> Oh, nice.
22:34:52 <JAWS> would you happen to know if it does carry the teams?
22:35:43 <george2> No idea. I don't really play games. Sorry.
22:36:24 <JAWS> oh
22:41:27 <JAWS> what size are the desktop default icons in Vista?
22:41:55 <JAWS> 48x48?
22:43:42 <george2> that or 32, i can't remember. I have mine set to "classic"
22:44:08 <george2> So they're extra small
22:45:26 <jason404> why do you need to know? You ought to be making .ico files with all sizes, up to 128x128 IIRC
22:45:40 <jason404> or is it 256x256?
22:46:23 <jason404> yeah, it is 256

22:59:04 <JAWS> thx for the links
22:59:48 <JAWS> gimp is probably better than IcoFX, right? ;)

23:03:23 <JAWS> Inkscape? never tried that for .ico
23:03:29 <JAWS> really?
23:04:28 <kAlug> Yep. I've made a better icon for FastCopy and upscaled TreeSheets using it.
