02:30:22 <JohnTHaller> hola
02:31:23 <kAlug> Danny Muniz asked me to manage his projects for some time, how should I proceed?
02:37:08 <JohnTHaller> what are his projects?
02:39:43 <kAlug> Inno Setup, PIXresizer, Nevitium and FreeRapid Downloader
02:39:59 <ZachThibeau> hola JohnTHaller
02:40:00 <JohnTHaller> I don't think any of those are officially released.
02:40:03 <JohnTHaller> hi ZachThibeau
02:40:23 <kAlug> Yep. All in Dev Testing.
02:40:41 <ZachThibeau> I have upgraded from a 4 string bass to a 5 string, learning all over again now
02:41:13 <kAlug> I mean, as it's just temporary, should I post in a new thread or what?
02:41:27 <JohnTHaller> kAlug: Do they all need upgrading?

02:44:34 <JohnTHaller> You can update them in the same thread. And I'll update the main topic with the info. Just post a comment with exactly what you'd like it to be.

02:47:02 <kAlug> hello GordCaswell
02:47:13 <GordCaswell> Hey guys
02:47:22 <JohnTHaller> hi gord
02:49:09 <kAlug> BTW John: I added ReplaceCommon/All to PAL: http://portableapps.chrismorgan.info/launcher/manual/releases/2.2/#new-catch-all-find-replace
02:49:43 <GordCaswell> hi John. Can you check this out for me, and let me know if it sounds good to you? It's information relating to the Release Team, compiled from previous release team topics & updated. sar3th: I think you had some comments for it as well: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1tvmR7_0WnIt3pgBI4m16z3McnNuy6RXEdCNwqQE5D2g/edit
02:49:56 <ZachThibeau> and any eta on an issue tracker?
02:49:56 <JohnTHaller> kAlug: Cool. How's it workin?
02:50:10 <JohnTHaller> ZachThibeau: After Drupal7, whenever that happens
02:50:14 <JohnTHaller> SO no.
02:50:19 <ZachThibeau> ok
02:51:20 <kAlug> It worked fine on my tests. Any other request for 2.2?
02:52:07 <JohnTHaller> Offhand, I can't think of any. Unless you wanted to try and work in the Installer passing the Launcher the locale for first run (sans Platform)
02:53:01 <kAlug> Not ATM. Too much homework.
02:53:20 <kAlug> And there's already too much features to test.
02:53:40 <JohnTHaller> GordCaswell: Looks good. But, I'd remove occasionally in terms of a pre-release. We'll do them when warranted. Not sure what % of the time that will be.
02:53:55 <kAlug> The next release will hopefully introduce compiled launchers (like the Installer) and a test suite.
02:54:07 <GordCaswell> K, that can be removed easily enough.
02:55:06 <JohnTHaller> kAlug: No worries. I was thinking we could do it later by having the Installer dump the LocaleID (example 1033 for English) in a palfirstrun.ini during install. And PAL could check for that after checking for the platform language. Just as a thought on how we could do it.
02:56:03 <kAlug> Hmm... we'll need a translation table.
02:56:37 <JohnTHaller> I'll shortly be able to dump all 5 vars from PAI itself. I'm building in a language table.
02:57:23 <kAlug> Ah. Great.
02:58:02 <JohnTHaller> I'm building it into the translation files itself as translation vars, you could easily dump them right into the PAL translations, too, if you'd like.
03:01:02 <kAlug> John: have you already decided on the proper names' translation?
03:01:16 <JohnTHaller> What do you mean?
03:01:33 <kAlug> http://portableapps.com/node/28595#comment-185278
03:01:47 <kAlug> Translate 'Platform', 'Updater', etc.?
03:01:58 <JohnTHaller> Right. I'm honestly a bit torn about it. What do you think?
03:04:22 <kAlug> Translated works better for non-tech users.
03:05:30 <JohnTHaller> Yeah, very true. Alright, let's go with translated
03:06:24 <kAlug> OK. Now, next question: is Java going to be treated as a shared library by the Platform?
03:07:32 <GordCaswell> JohnTHaller: I'm about to post this release team information, if I've made any mistakes once posted that you notice, feel free to edit.
03:09:17 <JohnTHaller> kAlug: It is. In CommonFiles\Java. The platform will prompt the user if they try and launch a Java app and Java isn't installed. The translations for those strings are part of the current set in the platform.
03:09:27 <JohnTHaller> GordCaswell: Cool. Thanks :)
03:10:41 <kAlug> Yeah. I'd guess it will need something like PAL's [Activate]:Java=find|require in the Format, right?
03:14:02 <JohnTHaller> kAlug: It's already in there. [Dependencies]:UsesJava=true|false
03:14:51 <kAlug> DIALOG_SHARED_LIBRARY_DOWNLOAD vs. DIALOG_SHARED_LIBRARY_DOWNLOAD_OPTIONAL (e.g. LibreOffice)
03:15:34 <JohnTHaller> Yeah, I'm altering that tomorrow. Deprecating true|false. Switching to yes|optional|no. true and false will still work and map to yes and no.

03:57:04 <GordCaswell> JohnTHaller: you indicated for an older incarnation of the release team that you could make the splash image template available for the release team. Are you willing to send it to Zach & I?
03:57:43 <JohnTHaller> I don't think I've ever said that since we updated the splash over a year ago. It uses a commercial font and requires Photoshop.
03:58:09 <GordCaswell> Hmm, ok, we'll leave that up to you then.
03:58:34 <JohnTHaller> A splash takes maybe 3 minutes to put together using the template I have, so it's just part of the final release stage along with digitally signing.
03:58:51 <GordCaswell> Ok, no problem :)
04:00:49 <JohnTHaller> I think I may bump back Google Beta/Dev channel updating to once per week on a given day. They sometimes do 3 beta releases in a week, which is a bit absurd (and not an indication of a beta-quality release)
04:02:23 <GordCaswell> All it's inidicative of, is that Google has gone overboard with the faster-paced release cycle. I'd say for any application that once a week is plenty, particularly if it's still in beta.
04:06:52 <JohnTHaller> Then again, Miranda updates every other week with minimal fixes, which is also annoying.
04:07:56 <GordCaswell> Balabolka, a freeware app i've got in testing, updates every week, too. Fortunately, it's quick to update it.
04:17:31 <Aerok> GordCaswell: what do you mean?
04:17:55 <Aerok> JohnTHaller: update Chrome on Thurdays or Saturdays.
04:18:11 <GordCaswell> I have you listed on the Status page right now by full name, with initials as AG. is that ok?
04:18:30 <GordCaswell> JohnTHaller: What's best for -your- schedule?
04:19:24 <JohnTHaller> When I have time. As it's a beta/dev and no one should be using it as a primary browser, it doesn't really matter.

04:20:17 <JohnTHaller> uninstall shell?
04:20:31 <pa_3393> sorry the unistal
04:20:47 <pa_3393> uninstall
04:20:49 <JohnTHaller> If you're using the PA.c Platform (HIGHLY recommended to all users), you just right-click on the "7-Zip Portable" entry in the menu and select Uninstall.
04:20:59 <ZachThibeau> pa_3393: just remove the 7-ZipPortable folder from the PortableApps.com folder or in the menu if I recall you can right click the app and select uninstall which removes the app for you
04:21:05 <JohnTHaller> If you're not, you'll need to bring up Windows Explorer and just delete the 7-ZipPortable folder.
04:21:48 <JohnTHaller> Remember, portable apps aren't "installed" on the machine, so they have no entry in Add\Remove programs. They're just extracted and exist in a single directory wherever you stick em.
04:22:27 <pa_3393> just delete the folder?

04:24:38 <Aerok> I know. I meant, the installed version.

13:08:07 <TPFC-SYSTEM> Sounds very odd.
13:08:36 <TPFC-SYSTEM> There have been some similar reports (e.g. http://portableapps.com/node/28572), but this problem isn't common.

13:29:21 <pa_1231> Thanks for your help. the link you gave suggested that "bad eject" maybe one of the problems. There are two dialogues: one is 'exit' the other is eject.. which one i should use to quit.. I belive the problem maybe there!
13:30:22 <TPFC-SYSTEM> A reformat should absolutely kill such problems, though.
13:33:39 <pa_1231> Thanks!
13:35:12 <TPFC-SYSTEM> It was not a hint. I meant that a reformat would help if the problem was inproper ejection.
13:36:12 <TPFC-SYSTEM> As you mentioned that reformat didn't help, the problem must be somewhere else (e.g. locally installed software or even hardware).
13:38:39 <pa_1231> I ruled that out as I changed the sytem; moved from desk top to lap top: the problem exists...

The mistake was: After closing the irfan, when trying to close the portable applns (with the right click on the icon), there are two dialogues: one is "eject" and next is" exit." I found the rightway is to exit (not eject), and then safely remove the flash drive, On re-sinserting flash drive no problems; irfan opens well. Thanks! Ejecting cuases this "problem."
