01:38:18 <pa_8887> just found the portableapps website. great site and many thanks. just one thing though, is the software tested for viruses or is it as is? The reason I ask is that I downloaded and set up the Chromium B.S.U. arcade game, and my antivirus went crazy and said that it had a virus in it. Was wondering if anyone else has had this problem as well or not?
01:38:50 *** techfreak244 has quit (Ping timeout: 260 seconds)
01:39:49 <GordCaswell> All software we release is tested for viruses in the packaging process. IF you ever have an issue with an install, we reccommend testing at virustotal.com. It tests against multiple anti-virus software, not just one.
01:41:14 <pa_8887> ok, got it. i will up it there and have it tested just to make sure. it might just have been the heuristic scan from Symantec Endpoint identifying it as a potential threat instead of it actually being one
01:41:43 <GordCaswell> Ah, Symantec, yes, they tend to have many false positives

01:43:58 <pa_8887> true, but sometimes it is better to be safe than sorry. plus, since the symantec endpoint was free through our office, i can't argue about it
01:44:54 <GordCaswell> No arguing with free.
01:46:45 <pa_8887> true. that is another reason that I love the portableapps site. lots of nifty stuff on there. downloaded all of the files last night and am going through them one by one today to see what all they are like

03:33:54 <PatrickPowell> Looks like spammer in forum yeah
03:34:11 <GordCaswell> yup
03:34:54 <PatrickPowell> looks like whatever I do even a file movve the entry itself stilll gets made into credential manager
03:35:17 <GordCaswell> interesting...credentials are annoying
03:35:24 <PatrickPowell> and if I manually delete it it crashes progra, ask you to re-enter pw and re writes
03:35:32 <PatrickPowell> I found out where it is store
03:35:41 <PatrickPowell> and I can move it back end forth
03:35:51 <PatrickPowell> but have not figure how it gets written
03:35:59 <PatrickPowell> and the deletecault
03:36:23 <PatrickPowell> that is just actually nothing more than deleting the attribute the entry still there
03:36:41 <PatrickPowell> did fimd it is not a cmd file really
03:37:05 <GordCaswell> nope, just running the program with commandline attributes
03:37:13 <PatrickPowell> all it does is this start syncdocs.exe -portable -novault
03:37:25 <PatrickPowell> so thought maybe I launch that
03:37:38 <PatrickPowell> still elaves evtry in the credential manager
03:37:57 <PatrickPowell> just did regshot of manager before I delete it and after
03:38:07 <PatrickPowell> see changes but can not figure what it was
03:38:46 <PatrickPowell> http://pastebin.com/eJXxETee take a look if you want
03:39:06 <PatrickPowell> weird cause what changed I can not even find in my sytem now
03:40:27 <GordCaswell> probably something in all that hex code
03:40:42 <PatrickPowell> I wondering if it is line 75-76
03:40:52 <PatrickPowell> cause I look there now and it does not even exist
03:41:08 <PatrickPowell> think might re-run the app and see if it shows?
03:41:34 <PatrickPowell> back to the testing board lol
03:47:17 <PatrickPowell> hmm that proved me nothing
03:47:28 <PatrickPowell> back to drawing boad, may not be solveable
03:48:19 <PatrickPowell> I can move the actual credential so do not really need to run th eno vault cause that basically does not as far as I can see
03:52:06 <PatrickPowell> bbiaf I want to try something need to close down stuff

17:40:10 <pa_3278> I/O device error
17:40:56 <Gizmokid2005> can you take a screenshot? That information isn't really helpful besides saying it's likely a hardware issue with the drive or computer you're on.
17:41:35 <pa_3278> but other flash drives are working properlyu
17:41:59 <pa_3278> n the same flash drive has problem in other PC's too
17:42:45 <Gizmokid2005> then the drive itself is likely bad, eh?
17:43:34 <pa_3278> Gizmokid2005 so what next
17:43:46 <pa_3278> ???
17:44:56 <Gizmokid2005> pa_3278: if the drive is dead...replace it?
17:46:17 <pa_3278> how do i do that
17:46:35 <pa_3278> i mean drive is dead means

17:54:20 <pa_3278> no dude i'm in office
17:54:31 <pa_3278> sorry if i sounded funny
17:54:46 <pa_3278> actually i'm not that proficient in computers
17:55:04 <pa_3278> thats y i get messed up with it mostly
17:55:29 <pa_3278> if u meant to buy new flash drive - i got that
17:55:54 <pa_3278> but what u meant by its dead??
17:56:18 <pa_3278> means its not working
17:56:53 <pa_3278> i can access files but each time i click on a folder it takes lot of time to open
17:56:58 <pa_3278> n most of the files dont open
17:57:07 <Gizmokid2005> that means it's corrupt
17:57:11 <Gizmokid2005> especially if you can't format it
17:57:17 <pa_3278> ok
17:57:23 <pa_3278> so how do i fix that
17:57:24 <Gizmokid2005> an I/O error like that is a hardware problem, especially if it happens on multiple machines.
17:57:26 <Gizmokid2005> you can't.
17:57:35 <Gizmokid2005> you send the drive in for RMA
17:57:44 <pa_3278> RMA???
17:58:13 <pa_3278> what is RMA
17:58:29 <Gizmokid2005> Return Merchandise Authorization
17:58:40 <Gizmokid2005> that's what you do with the manufacturer of your drive to get it replaced under warranty.
17:59:15 <pa_3278> actually this is a flash drive n my computer drive was recently replaced
18:00:24 <pa_3278> i tried reinstalling the apps but that too dint work

18:06:10 <Gizmokid2005> pa_3278: if you're having those issues
18:06:12 <Gizmokid2005> I wouldn't use it.
18:06:17 <Gizmokid2005> I'd replace it personally
18:06:19 <Gizmokid2005> but that's just me.
18:07:35 <pa_3278> me too thought it the same way but i have to store other important files too
18:07:43 <pa_3278> so have to buy a new one
