00:10:47 <sar3th> well, it's possible, but it involves a bit more work

00:16:56 <pa_4576> hello?
00:16:59 <mijk> hi
00:17:20 <pa_4576> Hi :)
00:17:50 <pa_4576> I just jumped on to see if anyone can help me with a launcher issue?
00:18:28 <pa_4576> I've been using and recommending the program for a while now and never had a problem.
00:20:41 <pa_4576> Just setting up a new PC for someone, and when I run the launcher app, it runs ok, but none of the program icons are displayed. Hover in the area and the program path show up and you can launch the app. The same launcher on another PC works fine...
00:21:07 <pa_4576> any suggestions?
00:24:23 <sar3th> mijk: you can follow this guide and substitute the name of the batch file with the absolute path to your application

00:25:38 <sar3th> pa_4576: not sure what the issue could be :|
00:28:31 <pa_4576> Thx Sar3th. So why does it work on one but not the other, or is that in the guide? Both Windows 7, both running from the same memory stick. The new PC has the same problem no matter which version of AP I run, and whether I run it from the Flash drive or copy it to the PC.
00:29:23 <sar3th> what do you mean with AP?
00:30:43 <pa_4576> Sorry PA (Portable App)
00:34:44 <mijk> thanks

00:42:20 <sar3th> you mean the platform pa_4576 ?
00:48:33 <pa_4576> HI Sar3th. I was saying that it doesn't matter which version of portableapps I run the icons are missing. I found something similar in the forum to do with a conflict with another laucher. While I don't have that launcher on here there was a motherboard app that might be doing the same thing, so have uninstalled and about to do a reboot. I'll see how I go and jump back on once I've restarted.

02:15:10 <pa_4915> Just started using porableapp. can anyone tell me where I'm suppose to put the apps I download. Like what folder.
02:15:16 <pa_4915> I put it in the apps folder inside poratable apps
02:15:32 <pa_4915> but it doesnt show up when i try to look for it in the interface
02:29:08 <PatrickPowell> You need to launch the apps to install them into the platform
02:29:19 <PatrickPowell> they do no trun ou tof th ebox until installed
02:29:28 <PatrickPowell> and place in appropriate place
02:29:43 <PatrickPowell> usually the install will detect where the platform is loaded
02:30:21 <PatrickPowell> Where do you have the platform installed to?

06:29:53 <pa_3464> i have a small question: is it possible to open the calendar in thunderbird like you can open the contacts list,
06:30:21 <pa_3464> with the small launcer that is provided
06:47:05 <PatrickPowell> not sure you mean the lightening ext for calendars?
06:51:32 <PatrickPowell> in my Thunderbird I have a button on task bar for events and tasks I click that and it gives me a choice to open it
06:56:10 <PatrickPowell> if that is what you want you should try out Portable Sunbird http://portableapps.com/apps/office/sunbird_portable
07:14:13 <pa_3464> I know i can use sunbird, but if there is a way of using the addres book like here http://portableapps.com/support/thunderbird_portable#addressbook
07:14:30 <pa_3464> then it can be possible call on the calender function asswell
07:16:10 <PatrickPowell> let me look at that I never knew of it
07:16:42 <pa_3464> lol i never knew of iether i just found it and it gave me the idea
07:17:51 <PatrickPowell> well I just grabbed that and will see what it is all about maybe I can whip something up?
07:21:12 <pa_3464> that would be cool! :)
07:22:11 <PatrickPowell> no promises If I ge tone watch the forums please I will post it as a Dev build
07:22:35 <PatrickPowell> I will first need to check with john as that one is all his code and I would need to modify it
07:22:47 <PatrickPowell> but looking into it as we speak
07:24:10 <pa_3464> not a problem, i just think that it is a good idea to be able to open diferent functions of one application in more than one way
07:27:25 <PatrickPowell> true

07:51:30 <DannyMuniz> sorry i just went from web browser to my chat client
07:51:38 <PatrickPowell> np
07:51:52 <PatrickPowell> You are the one asking about lightening?
07:51:57 <DannyMuniz> yep
07:52:16 <PatrickPowell> ok reserarching the address book was easy it is a built in part of TBird
07:52:25 <PatrickPowell> So it was just a commandline argument
07:52:30 <DannyMuniz> ok
07:52:47 <PatrickPowell> Lightning is an add on but looking into it on Moz page now
07:53:18 <DannyMuniz> i had found this old post that they had https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=359807
07:53:38 <DannyMuniz> it dont look like they had any luck
07:55:23 <DannyMuniz> i know that i can open downthemall on my browser with this command chrome://dta/content/dta/manager.xul
07:55:40 <DannyMuniz> so im thingking something similar is needed for this to work
07:59:33 <PatrickPowell> looking at bugzilla link I saw how to invoke calendar back when it was sunbird
08:01:59 <PatrickPowell> http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/faq.html#local_calendar kind of looks like wha tyou want
08:03:00 <PatrickPowell> afk fo minute I need to minimize some windwos and try something
08:03:24 <DannyMuniz> yea something similar to that addresbook one
08:03:27 <DannyMuniz> ok
08:12:37 <PatrickPowell> wow tooks me this long to find where the calenedar is located in the dir tree
08:12:45 <PatrickPowell> thinking thi smigh tbe above me
08:12:55 <DannyMuniz> lol
08:12:59 <PatrickPowell> might make a good topic for forums though
08:13:10 <DannyMuniz> yea i know how you feel
08:13:51 <DannyMuniz> ill let you post it
08:14:03 <DannyMuniz> its not an easy one to explain
08:14:15 <PatrickPowell> looks like it is all JAva so should be a way to do it
08:14:44 <DannyMuniz> and it took me for ever to find it in the extentions list
08:15:21 <DannyMuniz> yea but calling the right one by language is the problem
08:16:54 <DannyMuniz> the only thing that i dont like about the address book one is that it bypasses the master password
08:22:11 <PatrickPowell> true just curious what browser you use?
08:22:19 <DannyMuniz> ff
08:22:32 <PatrickPowell> hmmm drats
08:22:36 <DannyMuniz> y?
08:22:50 <PatrickPowell> well Iam looking at code for lighting
08:23:01 <PatrickPowell> apparently it can install into seampnnkey?
08:23:18 <PatrickPowell> given you had success running donthem without broser
08:23:37 <PatrickPowell> made me wonder if same approach was possible from Seamonkey
08:23:43 <DannyMuniz> no no i dont run downthem without the browser
08:24:01 <DannyMuniz> i run it with in the browser but from a tab
08:24:34 <DannyMuniz> if you have ff and have downthem you can run it from a tab
08:24:46 <DannyMuniz> then same can be done with chatzilla
08:24:48 <PatrickPowell> ah ok I know you can run lightening from a tab as well
08:25:05 <PatrickPowell> but that not wha tyou want
08:26:00 <DannyMuniz> no i want to see if it be possible to run lightning the same way as that address book
08:26:21 <DannyMuniz> that way you don't have to call on the full program if you don't need it
08:26:48 <PatrickPowell> I know was jus thoping for a short term fix lol
08:26:55 <DannyMuniz> lol
08:27:23 <DannyMuniz> i do use seamonkey but that is my backup browser
08:27:41 <PatrickPowell> understood
08:27:57 <PatrickPowell> wow heck of an error when I ran the jar from cmd
08:28:03 <DannyMuniz> lol
08:28:22 <DannyMuniz> yea careful you dont crash your system there
08:29:34 <PatrickPowell> nope doing it with copies of copies
08:29:40 <DannyMuniz> oh ok
08:29:58 <PatrickPowell> actually just redowloaded just the xpi and opened it up
08:30:10 <PatrickPowell> tried running that one first
08:30:18 <PatrickPowell> now going after the one in tbird
08:30:19 <PatrickPowell> lol
08:30:43 <DannyMuniz> lol
08:31:31 <DannyMuniz> i did all of the above and no luck i think that a specific launcher has to be made to make it work but we need someone that knows the program goo
08:31:36 <DannyMuniz> good**
08:31:46 <PatrickPowell> yup maybe JOhn or Chris
08:32:26 <DannyMuniz> they might give it a try if they see all this mombojombo when they get on
08:32:31 <DannyMuniz> lol
08:33:25 <DannyMuniz> well im off to bed now
08:33:29 <PatrickPowell> possibly
