00:41:47 <ZachThibeau> I'm feeling sore today but was worth the walk

00:42:41 <kAlug> wow
00:47:30 <ZachThibeau> yeah but well worth the walk
00:47:35 <ZachThibeau> got to see greater moncton
00:50:16 <kAlug> Hmm… no clue what is that?
00:50:41 <vf2nsr> Moncton is a city
00:50:53 <vf2nsr> or town
00:50:58 <vf2nsr> not sure which lol
00:51:13 <ZachThibeau> city
00:51:33 <ZachThibeau> city in New Brunswick
00:51:50 <vf2nsr> Thought so I hear a lot of people here in Maine refer to it
00:53:39 <ZachThibeau> yeah it's a popular city
00:53:44 <ZachThibeau> besides fredericton
00:55:44 <kAlug> Magnetic Hill. So, what should I do if I get lost there and have just a compass?
00:56:08 <ZachThibeau> well the hill you sit at the bottom of it in your vehicle and then you shut down the car
00:56:13 <ZachThibeau> and then you get pulled up
00:56:36 <kAlug> You didn't get it.
00:56:41 <kAlug> It was a joke.
00:56:59 <ZachThibeau> I'm too tired lol
00:57:46 <ZachThibeau> I just walked 8.5km

01:27:40 <Gizmokid2005> JWHough: did you not register "Pyromaniac"?
01:27:47 <JWHough> how can I register a nick?
01:27:47 <JWHough> Pyromaniac is taken
01:27:52 <Gizmokid2005> grrrrr
01:28:10 <JWHough> has been ever since I came to IRC like years ago
01:28:14 <Gizmokid2005> you need to do /msg nickserv help
01:28:22 <Gizmokid2005> and figure it out.
01:28:23 <vf2nsr> maybe register this nick then group pyromainiac?
01:28:30 <Gizmokid2005> vf2nsr: not if it's already registered.
01:28:35 <vf2nsr> that is how I use multiple nicks
01:28:55 <vf2nsr> change it to pyromanaic?
01:28:58 <vf2nsr> lol\
01:29:00 <Gizmokid2005> vf2nsr: that's how you do it...but you can't group nicks that are already registered
01:29:17 *** JWHough is now known as Pyromanaic

01:33:40 <vf2nsr> grrr wish I was smart then I could figure out how to super impose pics in GIMP
01:33:56 <vf2nsr> I know I nee to do it as layers but not working way I want lol
01:34:17 <kAlug> vf2nsr: Transparency?
01:34:30 <kAlug> On the upper layer?
01:34:37 <vf2nsr> I get first and third nice but second does not have the color
01:35:03 <vf2nsr> plus I can not put it where I want it but not sure if I am supposed to be able to position a layer
01:35:13 <kAlug> Can you post a screenshot?
01:35:30 <vf2nsr> let me recreate it I started anew
01:35:33 <vf2nsr> lol
01:35:54 <kAlug> To position a layer, you need 1) a layer smaller than the image, or 2) an image bigger than the layer.
01:36:47 <vf2nsr> correct I have a layer bigger then next smaller and then smaller but when I go to do it it centers 2 and 3 instead of allowing me to position
01:37:03 <vf2nsr> I know it is something Stupid that I am not doing just do not know what
01:37:34 <kAlug> Use the tool to move things and select the current layer.
01:38:01 <vf2nsr> That is what I can not find lol
01:38:20 <vf2nsr> ummmmm think I just found it

01:39:16 <vf2nsr> ok I just found it but for some reason layer 2 has no color
01:39:21 <vf2nsr> the original does?
01:39:36 <vf2nsr> or do O need to open it seperately?
01:39:43 <vf2nsr> then copy and paste it?
01:40:02 <kAlug> No color? Screenshot please?

01:55:51 <kAlug> White, I believe.
01:56:02 <vf2nsr> :(
01:57:35 <kAlug> Right-click the last layer and click "Add alpha channel".
01:57:50 <vf2nsr> ok
01:58:19 <vf2nsr> last being top or bottom layer?
01:58:20 <kAlug> Then you'll need to remove the blank from it. I had a tutorial somewhere, but it is in Portuguese…
01:58:58 <kAlug> Bottom.
02:00:14 <vf2nsr> me thinks th eproblem is the bottom layer is already white?
02:01:31 <kAlug> Oh, is it named Background?
02:01:44 <vf2nsr> no
02:01:46 <kAlug> If it's plain blank, then just delete it.

04:42:01 <GizmoBot> papaya: Welcome to the PortableApps.com official chatroom. Ask your question and someone should be able to help you shortly. If you still don't get an answer, try posting on the forums: http://portableapps.com/forums
04:42:21 <vf2nsr> How can we try to assist?
04:42:49 <papaya> can we change the logo and replace with our own
04:43:08 <vf2nsr> which logo are you referring to?
04:43:39 <papaya> on the app where it says postableapps.com and slogon
04:43:59 <vf2nsr> Do you mean on th eplatform?
04:44:07 <vf2nsr> Or what app in particular?
04:44:07 <papaya> yes
04:44:24 <vf2nsr> ok and what do you mena by logon?
04:44:42 <papaya> i meant slogon
04:45:09 <vf2nsr> the graphics in th platform are hard coded so your best bet would be to leave a message on the forums so that JOhn could assist
04:45:18 <vf2nsr> as for slogon I still do not understand
04:45:49 <vf2nsr> May I ask why?
04:46:11 <vf2nsr> are you planning it for personal use or to redistribute it?
04:46:23 <papaya> I dont know i wanted to see how it will look to make it th eway you want
04:46:41 <vf2nsr> which is?
04:47:17 <vf2nsr> Your question is quite unclear, as to how what and why you want to do it and for what purpse
04:47:20 <papaya> Full background as you own images etc
04:47:28 <vf2nsr> I think best idea would be to post a message on the forum
04:47:40 <vf2nsr> so customize the themes
04:47:58 <vf2nsr> that has been discussed on site and there are plans for it in future
04:48:06 <papaya> how do i do that where should i start i know nothing about codes etc
04:49:13 <vf2nsr> as I stated you might want to search forums, I know that there are many topic about this, I am looking now for one to point you towards
04:49:46 <papaya> Thanks
04:50:00 <vf2nsr> http://portableapps.com/node/30706 take a look there
04:50:08 <vf2nsr> and there are many mor eon site as well
04:50:30 <vf2nsr> and as I stated it is best to post as that way John (head honcho) can reply directly
04:51:06 <papaya> Thanks dude you guys are great
04:51:31 <vf2nsr> John deserves the credit I am just a developer of a few apps
04:51:56 <vf2nsr> also might take note that there will be a new platform coming out soon I believe
04:52:48 <papaya> well what i want to do is collect some apps and produse them with packing in the market
04:52:51 <vf2nsr> but not sure as to when as there is other things being worked on like explained here http://portableapps.com/node/31623
04:53:07 <vf2nsr> Produce them?
04:53:10 <vf2nsr> as in resell?
04:53:47 <papaya> Well yes as open source some you can do that to make money
04:54:22 <vf2nsr> That woulld definitely require permission from JOhn as it makes little sense to sell free things and much of the work although free does have copyrights
04:54:43 <vf2nsr> like the platform, Firefox, all Mozilla programs etc...
04:55:36 <papaya> i know that but if you dont change the name of the programs and do not miss with the code
04:56:13 <vf2nsr> not true
04:56:42 <papaya> like http://www.libreoffice.org/ you can do so without any permission
04:57:28 <papaya> openoffice, GNU Cash, and many more listed in here
04:57:29 <vf2nsr> I do not think so you should definitely contact John take a look here http://portableapps.com/about/contact
04:58:04 <papaya> yes i know about this apps i read that and email him as well
04:58:23 <vf2nsr> then you need to wait for a reply
04:58:36 <papaya> Sure i do
04:58:50 <vf2nsr> and wher eon the libre site does it say you can sell it?
04:58:55 <papaya> can i ask what app you have got
04:59:28 <vf2nsr> http://portableapps.com/node/30620
04:59:34 <papaya> You can download, install and distribute LibreOffice freely, with no fear of copyright infringement.
04:59:51 <vf2nsr> but where does it say you can sell it?
05:00:16 <papaya> ok one minute
05:05:49 <papaya> http://www.libreoffice.org/index.php/download/license/#Installing_Libreoffice_on_Windows
05:06:24 <vf2nsr> yes I have read that it does not say you ca n sell it ?
05:07:14 <papaya> This means you're free to use it for personal and commercial use, you're free to copy it and give copies away
05:07:26 <vf2nsr> give not sell
05:07:40 <vf2nsr> so you can sell a cd with apps
05:07:44 <vf2nsr> but not the apps
05:07:56 <vf2nsr> because you are charging for cd
05:08:07 <vf2nsr> again you need to talk to th ehead honcho
05:08:13 <vf2nsr> as he can explain it
05:08:31 <vf2nsr> also the platform although open source is copyrighted
05:11:07 <papaya> yes you can sell the CD with open source apps on it with legal rights of the cd only and not the app
05:11:25 <papaya> plus it says in libreoffice clearly http://www.libreoffice.org/index.php/get-help/faq/licensing-faq/can-i-copy-and-distribute-libreoffice/
05:11:32 <vf2nsr> correct as long as none of the copyrights are am odified
05:13:08 <papaya> yes so when in uk we do that we are not breaking the law of copyrights as you are only carhing for the cd, flash drive etc and packing we do
05:15:07 <vf2nsr> this is old but take a look http://portableapps.com/node/4480#comment-20594

16:04:47 <psat> hi all
16:05:24 <psat> does anybody have an issue using chrome portable while havng chrome installed in the system
16:05:25 <psat> ?
16:06:19 <psat> normally I have chrome portable running because it offewrs me support for google gears, wich the new chrome versions do not support anymore,
16:06:49 *** habr100 has quit (Ping timeout: 245 seconds)
16:08:17 <psat> and the issue I currently face with is that whenever I want to open a link, let's say that is on skype, it won't open the link upon the click, I normally have to reinstall the chrome that I have on the system so that it catches (i assume that it's an event) the event from the applications that I click the linkfrom
16:08:33 <psat> does anybody know something about this?
16:08:46 <Gizmokid2005> psat: that isn't an actual reported issue
16:08:58 <Gizmokid2005> when you run chrome portable, do you use it by running the ChromePortable.exe?
16:09:02 <Gizmokid2005> either via the menu or directly?
16:09:50 <psat> well, I have a link on the desktop for the exe
16:11:19 <psat> well, I have a shorcut on the desktop for the exe
16:11:34 <Gizmokid2005> for ChromePortable.exe?
16:11:38 <psat> "C:\GoogleChromePortable\GoogleChromePortable.exe"
16:11:39 <psat> yes
16:11:47 <Gizmokid2005> hmmm
16:11:51 <Gizmokid2005> it should work just fine
16:12:02 <Gizmokid2005> you're not launching the locally installed chrome while portable is running are you?
16:12:48 <psat> uhm, it's just somehow my installed chrome, does not catch the clicked links anymore, until I reinstall it
16:13:48 <psat> no
16:13:53 <psat> it eas already running
16:13:58 <psat> it was already running
16:14:08 <psat> a normal execution sometime is
16:14:36 <Gizmokid2005> well you can't run portable and local at the same time
16:15:10 <psat> uhm, I see, probably I shouldn't
16:15:39 <Gizmokid2005> that's likely the problem
16:17:42 <psat> thought wouldn't or shouldn't be a problem, since they are two different processes/exe's, but do not know about the internal of the proccesses after being launcher
16:17:54 <psat> well takes anyway for the help :)
16:18:05 <Gizmokid2005> yes
16:18:10 <Gizmokid2005> most apps can't be run simultaneously
16:18:14 <Gizmokid2005> because of environment variables, etc.
16:18:20 <psat> true
16:18:49 <psat> absolutly right, I just thoguht that chrome portable had it all encapsulated somehow
16:19:00 <psat> will keep in mind not to run both of them at the same time
16:19:01 <Gizmokid2005> nope. There's really no way for us to "sandbox" apps like that
16:19:04 <psat> thnks a lot
16:19:39 <psat> oh, ok
16:19:49 <psat> anyway, thanks a lot for the help

19:21:21 <GizmoBot> pa_8728: Welcome to the PortableApps.com official chatroom. Ask your question and someone should be able to help you shortly. If you still don't get an answer, try posting on the forums: http://portableapps.com/forums
19:21:40 <pa_8728> when i try to start portable apps antivir blocks autorun.ini and at the portable apps menu are no apps :(
19:25:51 <benedikt93> the first issue should not make that much of a difference (as autorun from removable drives is limited by Windows since some point either way); the second one is intended because the platform includes a downloader (Applications-> Add (might be worded a bit different, I'm running it in German)) and thus enables you to download only what you want
19:29:04 <TPFC-SYSTEM> pa_8728: I recommend simply deleting autorun.inf. Autorun no longer works in Windows at all.

19:41:20 <benedikt93> kein problem (english is preferred here,t hough, so that non-German-speaking people can follow the discussion, too)
19:43:08 <benedikt93> you should be able to permanently remove the autorun file through the quarantine window of antivir

22:58:04 <PatrickPowell> correct
