01:03:59 <AluisioASG> ty GizmoBot
01:03:59 <GizmoBot> Welcome AluisioASG
01:06:26 <ZachThibeau> couldn't just stick with the one nickname for irc :P
01:06:39 <ZachThibeau> anyways what's new AluisioASG
01:09:28 <AluisioASG> Well, I realized that most Cool Peopleā„¢ don't use nicknames. They just use their own names (adapted as necessary, as you can see).
01:10:21 <AluisioASG> I'm going to write some unit tests for a word search puzzle solver I finished writing.
01:11:12 <AluisioASG> you?
01:11:35 <gluxon> lol.
01:11:37 <gluxon> Cool people?
01:11:41 <gluxon> As in not me? :'(
01:11:56 <AluisioASG> most
01:12:33 <AluisioASG> There are always exceptions, like, uh, GizmoBot.
01:13:04 <AluisioASG> And you.
01:18:02 * AluisioASG notices that the main problem of computer-mediated communication channels is that you never know if people are still on the other side.
01:20:52 * gluxon notices that problem too.

01:25:30 <r3m> Hi i would like to know if updates for portableapps software are as soon available as normal version
01:25:52 <r3m> I mean if there is an update for firefox, would it be available for non portable before the portableapps version?
01:26:56 <gluxon> r3m: PortableApps.com only makes existing software portable.
01:27:09 <r3m> it dont modify the source?
01:27:20 <gluxon> The normal version of Firefox is available from Mozilla here -> http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
01:29:26 <gluxon> r3m: We don't usually modify the original program's source code unless there's a dire need. Our available apps use a "launcher" that redirects settings, update settings, and anything else required for portability.
01:29:42 <AluisioASG> r3m: The update delay varies with the app. Mozilla applications are top priority (usually a few hours).
01:29:44 <r3m> that is awesome
01:29:56 <r3m> awesome ! thanks gluxon and AluisioASG

18:56:03 <GizmoBot> GordCaswell is a PortableApps.com developer
18:57:28 <GordCaswell> r3m: there currently isn't a way to do so in the platform, and likely won't be. We reccommend using a usb key that has hardware-based encryption built in for what you want.

19:22:05 <r3m> GordCaswell: could i use truecrypt
19:25:27 <GordCaswell> r3m, you can use TrueCrypt; however, keep in mind that you can only use it reliably on computers where you have administrator rights.
19:27:00 <r3m> GordCaswell: I will use portableapps because i can install a lot of app in one shot, and in case i format the computer, and for the security (dont stock on computer), i will not use the usbkey on another computer
19:27:09 <r3m> su truecrypt is perfect in this case?
19:27:14 <r3m> s/su/so
19:27:49 <GordCaswell> i would say so. you can also compare some of the other encryption softwares out there, such as freeotfe, etc.
19:28:10 <r3m> GordCaswell: thanks and great program, good job
19:28:16 <r3m> i heard lot of good things on it
19:28:34 <r3m> my favorite feature is to install everything at once
19:28:44 <GordCaswell> you're welcome. and thanks. I have'nt had anything to do with the platform itself, but thanks, it'll be passed on :)

21:18:47 <bill_gagliardi> I'm working on trying to make a current version of PortablePython, but ran into a problem. Is it possible to have 2 launchers that can be called from the appinfo.ini?
21:26:17 <benedikt93> http://portableapps.com/development/portableapps.com_format#appinfo -> [Control] section
21:28:14 <benedikt93> although from my understanding, python should probably be impemented differently and go to CommonFiles (as does Java). You should probably talk about this with an actual dev (unlike me); possibly by a forum post
21:42:08 <bill_gagliardi> Ok, thank you for your advice.
