02:02:38 *** JohnTHaller|away is now known as JohnTHaller
02:02:44 <JohnTHaller> I'm here at the moment. How goes it?
02:03:14 <GordCaswell> going ok. Got a question regarding picpick, wondered if you might know the answer, since i don't see an answer in the forum for it.
02:03:16 *** Htbrdd (~Htbrdd2@24-181-58-207.dhcp.gnvl.sc.charter.com) has joined #portableapps
02:03:45 <JohnTHaller> Has anybody just tried packaging it with the new files and running regshot? That's SOP
02:03:57 <GordCaswell> I'm packaging it up as an assist for tapsklaps, and noticed a couple things. First off, not all languages are handled properly.
02:04:19 <JohnTHaller> Can you add them in?
02:04:20 <GordCaswell> Yeah, i'm doing that, but checking the launcher.ini first...i don't do things half :)
02:04:53 *** gko_ (~gko@60-251-71-121.HINET-IP.hinet.net) has joined #portableapps
02:05:56 <GordCaswell> Yep, that's done, now i'm wondering about the filewrite for first run. at the moment it's a configwrite, so it'll rewrite every time the app runs. if i understand that value correctly, it should only be written to the first time the app is run, not every time. In which case, i can do a custom code for up, unless there's a reason it's written every time, which i what i'm wondering about.
02:06:16 <GordCaswell> *which is7
02:06:22 <GordCaswell> grr...fat fingers tonight
02:07:29 <GordCaswell> i'm in the process of testing in my vm to be sure i understand the behaviour correctly, but figured you may possibly have noted it previously
02:08:56 <JohnTHaller> A custom var and saving it from PRe to Post would work
02:09:20 <GordCaswell> yep, that's what i was thinking.
02:09:26 <JohnTHaller> It's written in post since the INI won't exist in pre on first run.
02:10:06 <JohnTHaller> So within the IF true in pre, set an env var to say PALCustomFirstRunDone is true or similar. And then check it in post and do the write.
02:15:43 <GordCaswell> K, works for me. That'll be a vlaue to keep an eye on between updates then, as i think it changes with each version. I recently changed user accounts on my comp, and the virtualbox isn't happy about it, so it's taking a bit of time to let me use the vm, but i'll put the code in there to verify, ensure that the way i think the varialbe works in the base app is correct, and then send it to you.
02:22:41 <GordCaswell> On a different topic, I hope that your chat with that user earlier today was fruitful...sounded on here like it could be promising!

02:30:03 <zachthibeau> it's... a tad bit sluggish

02:51:53 <wesnoth_win> Hi,is Battle for Wesnoth Portable 1.10.7 for Unix?
02:52:49 <GordCaswell> Yes and No. I'll explain the No first.
02:53:40 <wesnoth_win> I think it's garbled when I install in Windows
02:54:38 <GordCaswell> No, as our apps are all windows apps, not cross-platform. However, Possibly yes, as Battle For Wesnoth may run on unix under wine.
02:54:39 <wesnoth_win> meant line feed code is wrong
02:54:59 <GordCaswell> What do you mean garbled? I just ran it, and it runs fine here - win7, x64
02:55:17 <wesnoth_win> really?
02:56:00 <wesnoth_win> weired
02:56:41 <wesnoth_win> alltext looks like □□
02:56:58 <GordCaswell> in the installer, or the game itself?
02:57:13 <wesnoth_win> the game itself
02:57:50 <wesnoth_win> main menu, also username
02:58:22 <JohnTHaller> GordCaswell: Yes, Drupal 6
02:58:55 <GordCaswell> hmm, just a minute, i'm checking to see if that issue's bee nreported before, either to use or the publisher
02:59:35 <GordCaswell> JohnTHaller, k, i'll get back to you once i'm done with support then
03:04:44 <GordCaswell> wesnoth_win, what language are you running it in?
03:05:23 <wesnoth_win> english(GB)
03:06:25 <GordCaswell> ok, try temporarily renaming WesnothPortable\Data to something else. It doesn't matter what. Then run WesnothPortable.exe again, and let me know if it happens still.
03:13:52 <GordCaswell> wesnoth_win, it looks like this is a long-standing bug in the winodws version of wesnoth, not our package of it.
03:16:10 <wesnoth_win> only this versin I happend
03:17:12 <wesnoth_win> version I happend to*
03:17:14 <GordCaswell> From what i'm reading on their forums, it doesn't happen to everyone or every time those users run the app, either. it seems to be fairly random. i'm trying to find the actual bug report for it to refer you to.
03:17:47 <wesnoth_win> thanks for advance
03:17:56 <GordCaswell> no problem
03:20:08 <GordCaswell> Ok, here's one bug for it, there could be more, i don't know. The poster here suggests rebooting the computer to fix the problem. I'm not sure if that'll fix it in this case or not. Did you try renaming Data?

03:30:00 <GordCaswell> JohnTHaller, RE: SSL - here's a module which would prove useful, as it allows you to secure only those pages that need it (and it's sister module, linked from the module's page). I think it might be best to build a static page including the iframe, but it'd be your call, naturally. https://drupal.org/project/securepages
03:33:15 <GordCaswell> oi, downloading a new vm from modern.ie takes forever...
03:35:13 <JohnTHaller> The couple issues are that it isn't D7 yet (and we will be switching at some point) and I'd need to rework the theme to pull images off our server instead of our CDN (since we don't pay the extra fee for SSL over CDN as well)

04:08:19 <wesnoth_win> GordCaswell : You are right!
04:08:38 <wesnoth_win> I made it. thanks a lot:)
04:08:57 <GordCaswell> Ah, ok. Unfortunately, it looks like the drupal 7 version is being held back by bugs that the developer is working on in drupal 8 first. Unfortuantely, and there's no way to get around it, the images would -have- to be on our server...dang ssl verification! I haven't worked with D6 for a while, but i think it's possible to have a single page. Here's one way to do it that seems simple, and has both D6 and D7 version. https://drupal.org/pr
04:08:57 <GordCaswell> oject/page_theme And here's a more in-depth way to do it: https://drupal.org/project/themekey

04:46:15 <GordCaswell> JohnTHaller, I'm still waiting on my vm to finish dowloading so i can test this, but it looks like this should work for custom code: http://pastebin.com/R3kMsTk9 As a comparison, here's the current custom code. Note that i've tweaked it slightly from the original: http://pastebin.com/nND3Q1Kp
04:46:23 <GordCaswell> Look ok to you?
04:47:24 <JohnTHaller> Do we need that box to show every time the app is updated?
04:48:00 <GordCaswell> Nope, don't think so
04:48:08 * GordCaswell goes to check the relevant post on PA.c
04:48:38 <JohnTHaller> Also why are you setting it as an environment variable but declaring it as a custom variable in NSIS?
04:50:48 <GordCaswell> *goes and checks why i did it that way* I think, based on the fact that i've done it that way previously when setting custom env. variables, nsis got upset when i didn't set it as a var first.
04:51:13 <JohnTHaller> If it's a declared var, you can just StrCpy into it.
05:00:55 <GordCaswell> nvm, figured it out, the example i was looking at was needing the env. variable for launcher.ini
05:01:23 <JohnTHaller> makes sense. not sure why you need that version check either
05:03:14 <GordCaswell> That's there, becuase in my limited testing so far, it looks like if there's an earlier version number already written in, the app shows a preferences panel on launch that it doesn't when the value is equivalent to the current app version. I'm not satisfied yet, though, and hope i can remove that after some further testing.

05:06:31 <DADSGETNDOWN> I use to use how many downloads as one way to tell, but I do not see that at the bottom of most pages anymore.
05:07:04 <JohnTHaller> Updating that number manually got old, so it was always out of date. So I only do it on a few big apps.
05:07:45 <DADSGETNDOWN> Yeah I bet, can't be automated huh?
05:07:54 <GordCaswell> oh, to have the "project" module...hopefully the last few bugs get worked out of those so we can add that with the upgrade to D7...
