17:05:00 <pa_0639> Help!
17:07:07 <pa_0639> Is there a difference between FotoSketcherPortable_2.99.paf.exe and PortableFotoSketcher_2.99.exe besides their size
17:11:31 <Gizmokid2005> pa_0639: where did you get each file?
17:12:28 <pa_0639> http://portableapps.com/apps/graphics_pictures/fotosketcher-portable for the one with the 'paf
17:12:31 <pa_0639> and
17:13:43 <pa_0639> trying to find other web site
17:14:36 <pa_0639> http://www.fotosketcher.com/ for the other one
17:15:17 <Gizmokid2005> the first is our packaged version and the only "official" PortableApps.com distribution
17:15:28 <Gizmokid2005> It's possible that the one from their site doesn't follow the PortableApps format
17:15:42 <Gizmokid2005> However, at the end of the day they should both be the same program.
17:17:52 <pa_0639> Thanks - I'll install the 'paf' one then since I'm also installing the PortableApps.com Platform 12.0.5
17:18:02 <pa_0639> I think that shopuld be correct
17:18:54 <Gizmokid2005> it is.
17:19:10 <Gizmokid2005> If you want things to integrate properly with the platform you'll want to use the official .paf.exe installers.
17:19:17 <pa_0639> SHould I install one before the other or does it not matter?
17:20:35 <Gizmokid2005> it doesn't matter as long as they're installed in the right tree, though I would suggest installing the platform first because then you can use the built-in installer and make sure everything is installed where it should be.
17:22:13 <pa_0639> Great. Now there is only one thing left for me to figure out - how to properly disengage from this chat window. it has been a long time since I had IRC installed and I forget the proper procedure.
17:22:35 <Gizmokid2005> It looks like you're using the webchat
17:22:41 <Gizmokid2005> just close the tab or window it's in
17:22:43 <Gizmokid2005> and you'll be fine :)
17:22:44 <pa_0639> right on
17:23:10 <pa_0639> closing the window is just wrong I would think - impolite
17:23:20 <Gizmokid2005> Nah, it's really not.
17:23:32 <Gizmokid2005> this is the only place you are in and it's designed to handle that.
17:23:59 <pa_0639> ok. Thanks again and keep up the good work

20:45:31 <pa_6266> hi
20:45:51 <pa_6266> Anyone there to help me
20:46:25 <pa_6266> help!
20:46:25 <GizmoBot> pa_6266: Welcome to the PortableApps.com official chatroom. Ask your question and someone should be able to help you shortly. If you still don't get an answer, try posting on the forums: http://portableapps.com/forums
20:47:13 <pa_6266> I am struggling to copy portable apps from my USB drive to new laptop
20:48:01 <pa_6266> Issue is - I could copy the files, portable APPS. However, not able to copy the portableApps application to the laptop
20:48:13 <pa_6266> I get the error that disk is right protected
20:51:03 *** pa_4006 (62712ddf@gateway/web/freenode/ip.98.113.45.223) has joined #portableapps
20:52:48 <Gizmokid2005> pa_6266: when you're copying them *to* the laptop? That's usually because of a permissions issue or you're not actually copying them to the local hard drive
20:53:16 <pa_6266> I am copying From: USB drive To: Laptop
20:53:38 <pa_6266> I could copy all other files and applications - such as Firefoxportable
20:53:54 <pa_6266> only issue is with main application i.e. PortableApps
20:53:59 <pa_4006> how to solve these problems ?1 at start error massage appears: I/O 32 2. at openning Firefox: Not Responding: 3. firefox very slpw
20:55:08 <Gizmokid2005> pa_4006: can you get a screenshot of the first issue? It sounds like based on those points that the drive you're using is bad/going bad.
20:55:41 <Gizmokid2005> pa_6266: if you're just copying it directly you could be copying some protected files that contain autorun information and they won't copy over the root drive
20:55:54 <Gizmokid2005> Usually if you're going to run things locally it's recommended you don't store them on the root of the local disk
20:56:18 <Gizmokid2005> instead of at C:\ you'd want to put PortableApps including the platform at something like C:\PA\ to avoid permissions issues like that.
20:58:03 <pa_4006> it is new dell.8.1 can you enter computer? did not have it before. It occured after an up date? can reinstall be done without loosing info i keep on firefox?
21:00:49 <Gizmokid2005> pa_4006: are you running it from a usb stick?
21:02:35 <pa_4006> yes. as all times
